We were walking the wales coast path and had not factored in the demand around Cardiff for accommodation when concerts are on. The student accommodation was the only reasonable priced option we could get for the weekend ( still more expensive than a premier inn) The main issue was heat, the room was very warm, a fan was provided but the window is only open a few issues (H&S) therefore circulating warm air. Good security, shower was fine, bed linen and towels fine. Small kitchen and seating are nearby which was handy and laundry on site.

Convenient & value for money

Friendly and helpful staff at the front desk. When there was an issue with the room, was dealt with quickly and efficiently. Use of shared kitchen, which was also very clean, was useful. There was only one cloth for wiping counters and cleaning dishes so you might want to bring your own, and a scrubby for dishes. Minor point. I look forward to returning again.

It's a student halls of residence. If that's what you're expecting I would imagine you'd be very happy with the room. If you're expecting a hotel, it's not a hotel. It was exactly as I was expecting. Comfortable, no frills, perfectly fine for a one night stay for me. Wifi was great. A little bit of noise at times, it's student accommodation, but not too noisy by a long way. I recently stayed at the IBIS in Bristol and that was far noisier. Would happily book again for a short stay.

I had a wonderful stay at Newport Student Village! It was only a short 10 minute walk to central Newport and if you walk 5 more minutes you will be at the bus station which will take you everywhere you need to go. The room lacked decoration but that was something I expected as the facility is used to house students. I did have a bathroom, so that was a pleasant surprise! The staff was incredibly helpful and polite. I would 100% stay here again!

I arrived to find there was no parking . When it said on booking free parking available. Then at reception I was told you had to pay for parking and car spaces were rent out. So no parking even though I was a student.

Nice and clean, friendly and helpful staff. The mattress was really soft, too soft for me. So overall it was ok.

Absolutely nothing in the room - no kettle no cups or glasses, no tea and coffee or sugar no usb ports no TV and a draw with a hairdryer box with no hairdryer- awful bathroom - poor facilities for a £71 a night stay

The location was ideal and the price was great! It was very safe as you need a key fob to get into and move throughout the property.

No parking

Inside was great, the staff were very helpful and friendly, the room was fine, though the carpet was a bit tired. It was just by a busy bridge which had a lot of traffic and mostly it became quiet when the window was closed. I will certainly think of staying in places like that again (student accommodation)

The property was ideal for a short get away. Transport to Cardiff was a short walk to the train station. Reception staff were very helpful and friendly.

The accommodation is excellent for the price with great links to Cardiff via Newport train station. Newport is wales version of Burnley but it’s a cheap place to stay. Had all the cooking equipment I needed and the room was clean with a decent shower. Will use again.

You pay for what you get but you may end up next to a shared kitchen and social space, as I did. The room was fine but hot. This means you won't get to sleep before 11 at the earliest - if you're travelling for business, you better be ready to be half-rested in the morning.
