Great central location, very friendly and helpful staff, great breakfast. Bar was very sparsely stocked. Room was very nice and clean and equipped, but some of the fixtured furniture was chipped and did not give a good impression relating to property maintenance. This was out of character with the rest of the hotel which was very well maintained.

Staff was so helpful and let us check in early for $4 U.S.A. plus loaned us an adapter for our room. Clean and comfortable. One minute to shoppes and walkable to everywhere we wanted to go within Reykjavik!

The room was small but worked well for us. The staff were all friendly. Great location because near many shops and restaurants.

Great property and great location. Small but delicious buffet breakfast to start the day was perfect. Request an inside room away from the busy street as it can be very noisy at night while keeping your window open to get air since there is no AC. Staff was amazing and always helpful. Would definitely stay here again!

Staff were friendly, room was clean, and the hotel is very pretty. I enjoyed breakfast too, it was Icelandic style breakfast so they don’t really have hot food but the food they do have is good.

The staff at the Sands Hotel is really what set it apart from other stays. Laura & Mira specifically were helpful, accommodating & overall fun to talk to about the area. They also gave us great recommendations for attractions to see. This front desk staff, along with others we didn’t get names of, were a highlight of the hotel. Additionally, the included breakfast was a nice surprise as food is quite expensive in Iceland. Location was in the heart of the city’s we could walk to everything we wanted. Overall, if and when we visit Reykjavik again we will certainly stay at the Sands.

This boutique hotel is located directly among the heart of the downtown action. Everything about our stay was wonderful. The only negative was the issue of parking. So don't rent a car unless you are comfortable walking a distance to and from your parking space. Other than that, everything you need is within a short walking distance. We booked several excursions, all of which were easy to get to once our front desk staff provided tips on how to get around. Hopping on and off busses allowed us to immerse ourselves into the culture of the area. The room is perfectly clean but gets hot at night. So we requested a fan which helped to keep us cool while we slept. The hotel gym is small but well enough equipped to get in a decent workout. I do wish there was a microwave somewhere on the main floor. Our leftovers from the pricy steakhouse went uneaten since there was no way to reheat the meal. I truly appreciated being discouraged from tipping but instead encouraged to write a nice review. The Bistro Reykjavík and The Kastrup restaurants were excellent for good, hearty meals and cocktails. The Sand staff were quick to respond to every request we had during our stay. I'd definitely stay again.

Very comfy beds/linens wonderful. The breakfast in the hotel was delicious- very traditional Icelandic choices. The staff was always helpful and cheerful. The hotel has a great location; everything in walking distance. And don’t miss the fabulous bakery/cafe adjoining the hotel. Might be the best pastries and sandwiches in town.
