Just Perfect ⭐️

Stayed one night at Rose and Crown. Stayed in a double room as that was all left when I booked. Greted by a helpful member of staff and shown to the room. Bit small and one side of the bed was against the wall. Bathroom was a bit outdated and not a great shower. Breakfast was great and Vicky was super. Attentive and polite.

Breakfast great, staff polite and efficient. Rooms a little dated as you would expect from an old pub. One thing that wasn’t great was the shower, cold and like a drip, let the room down.

Pros: absolutely plumb in centre of town, free parking at rear of Inn, great pub, lovely breakfast and excellent, friendly staff. Cons: a tad expensive for what was a tiny room which badly needs an upgrade - carpet very thin and threadbare and shower was nothing more than a trickle!

Staff were excellent, very helpful on arrival and extremely knowledgeable. Breakfast staff were attentive and the same young lady who checked us in was there again providing more excellent service.

Cosy pub atmosphere and friendly welcome

A bit of a wait for breakfast and not the best. We had room 2 but moved to room 3 because the heating was playing up. These are dog friendly rooms and were both excellent for the night. Great staff and a warm welcome in nice surroundings

Room overall very good. The only issue is the shower - the head could be doing with being changed as affected flow, equally could’ve been the water pressure.

Very friendly staff and a lovely Sunday Roast dinner.

Outstanding service and room was be dry comfortable. Only slight issue was the shower pressure. But apart from that outstanding. Will certainly stay again.

Haven't stayed here for a while but wasnt impressed with this visit. The rooms are modern, the staff are nice and attentive. When I travel away on business, its about the quality of my sleep and the shower. The shower is an electric shower so the pressure wasnt great and eas impossible to get the right temperature. It was either boiling or freezing. After being out for a evening meeting, the room was freezing. It was then i discovered that the bathroom window had been left open. I went to get a cup of tea but no tea bags and too late to get some. The bed was lovely and comfy. The issue arose at 415am when I woke up and i struggled to get back to sleep as the rain was so loud on the window. When i did eventually get back to sleep, i was awoken again by the drayman dragging the barrels around 6am. In isolation these may seem petty but the actual 'time' I spent in the hotel wasnt great. As mentioned earlier, I have stayed here before but wont be rushing back.

Had a fantastic one night stay here. Couldn’t fault anything about the property or the staff. The only thing was the aircraft noise however that didn’t stop me and my partner having a good nights sleep. Will definitely return.

Unfortunately, my stay at this hotel was far from restful. The biggest issue was the constant noise—planes were landing or taking off every 5 minutes throughout the night, only letting up between 1am and 5am. To make matters worse, there was a loud extractor fan just outside my bedroom window that turned on and off all night, and I could even hear the person snoring in the room next door due to poor sound insulation. Cleanliness and maintenance also left a lot to be desired. There was a spider infestation in the bathroom, the headboard I used to charge my phone was really dusty, and the toilet didn’t flush properly. The car park was also difficult to locate, could really do with improving signage. On a more positive note, the food was really good. Apart from the chicken for the main course being pink, the scallp scallop starter was absolutely delicious, and one of the best breakfasts I've ever had! The bed was extremely comfortable, and the staff were amazing. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to stay in unless some major improvements are made to cleanliness, maintenance, and noise control. The pub / restaurant I would highly recommend though : )

Lovely hotel with so much history.

Great run pub and rooms. Very friendly staff. Yes, it's a pub so noisy up until 11.30 on Saturday, but after that quiet in the room. The Breakfast ( included in the room rate) was excellent and freshly prepared to order.

Service is always great here the staff are lovely. Breakfast is superb and a lot to choose from. Creamy mushrooms on sourdough with spinach and egg is the best thing ive every had anywhere in the world, you have to try it. Compliments to the chef 👍
