Very clean, with very courteous staff. It's an old roadside inn, so there's no air conditioning and lots of traffic noise, which I struggled with. My single room had everything I needed, except a wardrobe. A couple of hooks on the doors would have helped enormously, as I had nowhere to hang my dresses during my stay.

I booked accommodation at the Kings Head for myself & my registered assistance dog. Upon arrival, I was refused check-in solely because the hotel stated that they “do not allow pets.” I explained that my dog is a legally recognised assistance dog & not a pet. Despite this, I was still denied access to the hotel. I was subsequently directed to alternative accommodation at the Lodge in the Vale, approximately a 10-minute walk away. This caused significant inconvenience & distress, particularly given my mobility limitations & underlying health conditions. After checking into the alternative accommodation, I discovered that no food or catering facilities were available on site. I was informed that I would need to walk back to the Kings Head in order to obtain food. Due to my medical & mobility issues, this was not reasonably possible, resulting in me going without food throughout the evening & into the following morning. I consider the actions of the Kings Head to constitute unlawful discrimination under the Equality Act 2010. Assistance dogs are protected by law, & service providers are legally required to make reasonable adjustments & must not refuse access to individuals accompanied by an assistance dog. The treatment I received was humiliating, distressing, & had a direct negative impact on my wellbeing. I reserve all legal rights in relation to this matter, including the right to pursue formal legal action £ seek damages for discrimination & distress & losses.

So friendly and comfortable. The rooms are beautiful with great views. Food is good too and a must for a relaxing weekend .

The staff were friendly and efficient and the room was nice. The bathroom was a bit dirty and needed some maintenance. There was also quite a lot of dust in some areas of the room and the kettle and iron were about 30 years old and didn't work very well. They closed downstairs completely at 22:30 and sent everyone sat having a drink by the fire to their rooms so they could turn the lights off, which seemed a bit odd. It also wasn't clear on the itinerary from hotels.com whether breakfast was included. I checked the hotel website a few days before arrival and the same room including breakfast was listed at the same price so I assumed it was. To make sure, I was going to switch to a direct reservation but despite this being a free cancellation, pay on arrival booking, they had set the terms to have no cancellation for a week before arrival, so I couldn't. On arrival they didn't say anything other than asking if I wanted to book in for breakfast, then charged it as an extra at the end. Generally the stay was really nice but there were a few issues which would put me off staying again.

My stay was disrupted by badly behaved guests in the room next to mine. I had to go to Reception and complain about their behaviour twice. Upon my second complaint, a staff member called the manager who spoke to the unruly guests about the noise. They lied about the noise and when the manager returned to me, he began making excuses for them and turned funny with me! He became awkward and argumentative towards me, then spoke down to me in a very condescending voice before storming off. I do not expect to be treated so rudely when I have a valid cause for complaint. The Inn is beautifully appointed and the rest of the staff were lovely towards me. What a shame that the manager was so unpleasant.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Dinner and breakfast meals were tasty and plentiful. Room and bathroom were small and bed a bit too soft.

What a lovely hotel! I love the atmosphere - the way it is decorated is serene, and yet you can still see the age in the building definitely in a very well kept way. Highly recommend this hotel as the service was amazing, the food was very delicious and the rooms were comfortable and clean! Thank you for a lovely stay!
