Wow!! We only stayed at Hotel Zum Hirschen for one night in room 346, but we did not want to leave and wished we could’ve stayed longer. This hotel is fantastic, great staff, great food, nice bar, a lovely little pool and the saunas. The rooms are incredible, spacious enough to stay for an extended period as they are like mini apartments. The bed was amazing and the pillows so soft. The room was quiet, cool and dark. Slept like a baby 💤 We were able to park our motorcycle in the adjoining covered garage. Reception ladies both lovely and friendly as well as the restaurant staff. Breakfast was excellent with a large selection of hot and cold dishes. We could not fault the hotel on any level, clean and spotless, with pleasing decor. We want to come back and would highly recommend.

Was a very bad experience for us for many reasons, will never book this hotel again: 1) there are many bars under the hotel, so it’s so noisy and you would not be able to sleep till 3:00 am due to the people shouting and screaming all night. Closing the windows was not an option as there is no AC !! 2) towels were smelling bad. 3) no parking available for the car, u less you pay 15 Euro every day!! 4) very poor breakfast. 5) old furniture. On the other hand, the staff were friendly.

This was a lovely hotel - particularly in the bar and reception area. We ate at their restaurant and the food was fabulous if a little pricey. The rooms were spacious and clean (we had a superior double) and it’s incredibly well placed in the centre of Zell am See so plenty of buses to other ski areas. The towels were a little on the small side and quite harsh and the body and hair gel was not replaced often enough so we ran out twice. Also there are no tea and coffee facilities but we asked for a kettle! Everything else was great. Ski rental is nearly opposite and train station only a few minutes walk away. Hotel staff very helpful.

Hotel location close to ski lifts or bus was great. Very easy for access to rest of the town. Staff were nice and the hotel and rooms were spotless. Breakfast choice was amazing. Bed comfortable, bathroom modern and room was spacious. Did not eat at the hotel at night so can’t comment. The only negative was the noise from the main road into our room but think this was worse than normal due to underground road below the town being closed during our stay. If you want ski lessons then we would recommend Matt at the ski school at Schmitten station.

Two night stay on our road trip around Austria. Found the hotel very noisy during the night with s lot of noise from outside. Mattress was comfortable but the pillows where none existent. Shower was poor facing across the bath. Breakfast was very limited on choice. Zell am see didn’t live up to my expectations after visiting Strobl on our trip. Zell was very crowded and spoilt by the railway running across in front of the lake. Don’t believe the holiday companies on getting the authentic Austrian experience.

I stayed four nights, came to ski. My room was clean and spacious, and the WiFi worked well. Breakfast was very nice, though I think breakfast should start at 7:00, not at 7:30. I ate one evening in the hotel restaurant; the food and the waitress were excellent. In the evenings, I needed to do a lot of writing at the desk in my room; unfortunately, the desk chair was very uncomfortable. Also, there was no waste basket in the room--only a very small basket in the bathroom. No box of tissues either. The hotel itself is in the center of town and next to a busy road, so expect some outside noises. But it`s only 150 meters to the gondola, and about a five-minute stroll to the train station.

We booked with Expedia to stay at Hotel Zum Hirschen (HZH) but on check in, we were advised that they had over booked and we were given a room at a ‘sister’ hotel - Hotel Heitzmann. It was a very good room but overall experience was not the quality of Hotel zum Hirschen which we could clearly see when we had breakfast at HZH. The reason given for overbooking was that the HZH has not been able to receive emails in the last 2 weeks and therefore had overbooked!! Ridiculous reason. We had booked on 19.10.18 - 3 months ago. I had seen on Expedia correspondence that there was no need to re-confirm the booking before arrival. However, this was not the case. There is a difference in price between the hotels so please advise how we can be reimbursed for the difference.

Excellent location just 200 meters from the main lift. Very good kitchen, though a bit expensive comparing to other places. Rooms are very clean, beds are nice and bathroom/toilet are well equipped, though tee/coffee amenities are absent.

Easy walk to station and lake, stunning mountain scenery from room. We were were short of time as had only stayed to attend a nearby funeral, but are planning to come back to spend more time in Zell-am-Zee. Excellent breakfast, and a good choice of evening meals in the restaurant.

The hotel is quite good. Large comfortable room and bed. Breakfast also very good. But Zell Am Sell not impressive, compared to other lake towns, Salzburg or Innsbruck. Funicula cost is a ripoff.

Great, accommodating staff. They were able to provide bikes to ride around the lake, gave great suggestions, and were very friendly. The hotel is in a good location, about a 10-15 minute walk from the train stations and near the pedestrian area with food and shops. The hotel included a pass to the beach area on the lake with includes diving platforms and board, along with a water slide and a pool.

Only one faltering in this hotel was that you could only access the internet from the lobby. The positives easily out weighted that.

We were delayed getting to the hotel on our first night, we didn't arrive until after midnight. They gave our room away, which is policy, and put us up in the guest house across the road (which was clean and comfortable). When we went back in the morning and explained about the delay, the reception staff said they were really sorry and had reserved us a suite for the remainder of the stay, for the same price as we were going to pay for a standard double. It was enormous for the two of us, at the top of the house with great views of the lake and mountains. The hotel is central within the village, 5 minutes walk from the station and there are plenty of shops nearby. The staff at the hotel were very friendly, spoke perfect English and were always around to help. My one criticism is that we couldn't get wifi at the top of the building and could only use it in the reception area.
