I really like the 4-bed dormitory because it is quieter and feels more spacious than larger dorm rooms. The staff are friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help. One thing I especially appreciated was that the staff remembered my request for a bottom bunk and kindly assigned me bed A04 whenever it was available. It made my stay much more comfortable, and I truly appreciate their thoughtful service and attention to guest preferences. The location is also very convenient, with many attractions, cafés, and local restaurants within walking distance, making it easy to explore Yogyakarta. This was my second stay at Kamala House (28–30 June 2026), and it was even better than the first! The hostel was once again clean, comfortable, and well maintained. This time, I got the bottom bunk as requested, specifically bed A04, which made my stay much more comfortable. A big thank you to the receptionist and staff for remembering my request and accommodating it. I really appreciated their kindness and excellent service. I will be staying at Kamala House again on 16 July, and I hope I can get bed A04 once more. Overall, I had another wonderful experience and will definitely continue choosing this hostel whenever I visit Yogyakarta. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a clean, comfortable, and welcoming place to stay.

I stayed at Kamala House from June 21–22, 2026, and had a pleasant experience. The hostel was clean, tidy, and well-maintained. I stayed in a shared dormitory with only 4 beds, which made the room feel comfortable and less crowded. The only minor downside was that I was assigned a top bunk bed, so I had to climb the ladder every time. The ladder can feel a little slippery and challenging, especially during the night. However, this did not affect my overall stay. The staff were friendly and helpful. I have already booked another stay for next week, and the receptionist kindly arranged a bottom bunk bed for me. I am looking forward to staying at Kamala House again and would recommend it to other travelers looking for a clean and comfortable hostel.

Order a private room, it's very comfortable, the room is clean and spacious. The only minus is that the parking lot is too narrow for cars, but it's okay, no problem. If I go to Jogja again, I want to stay at Kamala House

With a price under 300, you get a super clean, spacious, comfortable room. It's really worth trying. The staff are all friendly, and it's close to the road so it's not difficult to find food. Next time I have a trip to Jogja, I want to stay here again

The staff are friendly, the rooms are nice and comfortable, really suitable for traveling together with friends, the bathroom is also clean, there is a working space too (very comfortable) especially free water, tea and coffee. 🤍 like it.

My first try staying here and I was honestly quite surprised with how good it went for me (and I've been to quite a lot of "capsule" hotel before this). Room was decently, not dusty, and is quite spacious for a small capsule hotel. Air conditioner works nicely. The bed was quite thick and comfy enough to sleep on (I'm a rather big guy, so I often struggled with sore back if the bed was too thin). The capsule beds has opaque screen to help conceal it. The shared bathroom/toilet is routinely checked and cleaned. My personal highlight is the shared seating area right behind receptionist/lobby area. Free refill self-service tea and coffee + hot and cold water are readily available. The seats are also properly cushioned and the cushion wasn't too thin. If you ordered delivery/takeaway food and you don't get it with a solid or proper container and/or eating utensils, no need to worry. You can easily borrow the plates, bowl, and eating utensils (fork and spoon) that are available in the shared seating area so you can happily enjoy your meal without making too much dirty mess. All in all, as an often solo traveler, I will definitely reconsider booking a stay here again on my next visit to the Jogja city area. 😁👍
