There’s no denying the beauty of this place. It looks like a post card and the scenery is just breathtaking. The food was ok and on par with the rest of our safari tour but the staff weren’t as friendly. One thing you have to know about this place is that it’s the most instagrammed lodge in Kenya … and that attracts a particular crowd of want to be influencers. It didn’t spoil our stay at all but I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t irritating to have to get out the way for the tenth photo shoot of the day 😂 … that said the views are incredible and we had late night visits from elephants and lions to the watering hole.

Our stay at Salt Lick Lodge was truly outstanding and exceeded all our expectations. The location is absolutely spectacular, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding wilderness and incredible opportunities to observe wildlife right from the lodge. The rooms were comfortable, clean, and beautifully designed to blend with the natural environment. Falling asleep to the sounds of nature and waking up to views of animals nearby was an unforgettable experience. The staff were exceptionally friendly, professional, and attentive, always making us feel welcome and well cared for. The food was excellent, with a great variety of delicious dishes and outstanding service throughout our stay. What makes Salt Lick Lodge truly special is the unique atmosphere and the opportunity to experience wildlife so closely while enjoying a high level of comfort. Every moment felt magical, and we created memories that will last a lifetime. We highly recommend Salt Lick Lodge to anyone visiting Kenya. It is a remarkable place that combines comfort, hospitality, and an unforgettable safari experience. We would love to return one day!

Where should I start..The buffet spread is generous well-curated, incorporating both local Kenyan flavours and continental dishes. The food is nothing short of spectacular fresh, well-presented and plentiful. The elevated restaurant and the bar positioned a level higher further elevate the experience for me. Staff members are very professional yet friendly, with guests singling out individuals by name for their warmth and dedication. The waterhole view from the room is consistently the highlight of my stay waking up to zebras in the morning and elephants at night. Salt Lick Safari Lodge is one of those rare places where the setting, the service, and the spirit of the destination converge into something genuinely extraordinary.

The renowned stilted hotel is situated in the private Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary at the base of the Taita Hills, next to Tsavo West National Park. It offers views of a notable waterhole and expansive plains. You can choose to self drive as you enjoy a beautiful 6 hour scenic views, we choose to use The standard gauge railway instead from nairobi to voi which only took 4 hours. The accommodations at Salt Lick Safari Lodge offer a luxurious safari experience, featuring breathtaking wildlife views directly from your bed. This elevated lodge comprises 96 distinct and well-appointed rooms distributed across two levels, categorized into the following tiers: Waterhole View Rooms: These premium accommodations provide direct, eye-level views of the active watering hole and the vast Tsavo plains, enabling guests to observe wildlife as they gather to drink and bathe without leaving the comfort of their rooms. Park View Rooms: Elevated on stilts to offer panoramic vistas of the Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, these rooms are equipped with cozy bedding, ensuite bathrooms, and reading tables. Premium Room Features & Amenities: Intimate Touche: King or double beds, soft fine linens, and plush white towels. Modern Comforts: All rooms are fully ensuite and feature contemporary rainfall showers. Essential Inclusions: Built-in mosquito netting, ceiling fans, and coffee/tea-making facilities. In addition to your accommodation, you will have access to premium amenities, including al fresco dining at the Bura Restaurant and pool access at the sister property, Taita Hills Safari Resort & Spa. For precise rates and availability, please consult directly. I choose waterhole view room and it's true what they say, it's premium enough from the views of the water hole I got to see animals grazing, fighting, playing drinking water, this is was breath taking. The beds were king size and very comfy. Our dining experience was nothing short of spectacular, a true highlight of our stay at the Salt Lick Safari Lodge, where The Bura Restaurant serves as the main dining room. This remarkable venue is designed to accommodate up to 150 guests, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the exquisite culinary offerings in a spacious and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant boasts expansive windows that frame breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, allowing diners to gaze out at the vibrant grasslands and the active watering hole, where wildlife often gathers. The outdoor terraces provide an additional layer of enchantment, inviting guests to savor their meals al fresco while being serenaded by the sounds of nature. As we indulged in our meal, the combination of delectable dishes and the stunning backdrop created an unforgettable dining experience, perfectly capturing the essence of the African wilderness. Our dining experience was truly remarkable, characterized by the exquisite cuisine prepared by the lodge's esteemed chefs. I extend my compliments for the exceptional offerings. The meal commenced with a selection of savory starters, followed by a delectable main course, and concluded with an assortment of cold ice cream, freshly baked cakes, and a variety of fruits. For those who may not prefer sweets, there is an impressive selection of beverages, including both white and red exotic wines, as well as beers, sparkling water, tea, and coffee. Additionally, the Vuria Bar Lounge, located directly above the restaurant, features an elevated, shaded terrace that is ideal for enjoying cocktails or coffee while observing the elephants and other wildlife in the vicinity. The game drive during our visit was somewhat disappointing due to the migration of animals during the rainy season, resulting in fewer sightings than anticipated. The optimal time to visit is after the rainy season, specifically between August and October. Nonetheless, we were able to observe several animals, including zebras, lions, various species of antelopes, large elephants, ostriches, and buffalo. the spectacular services of the staff was noticed , thank you🙏

Perfect treehouse-style sanctuary to enjoy panoramic views of the seemingly endless Tsavo plains and watch the wildlife around Taita Hills go by. What. A. Privilege to experience. Thanks to Christopher for a seamless check in on arrival and for our room with views for days. Also, a massive thanks to the young lady (gutted I didn't write down her name. I was so sure I'd remember) and a gentleman in the security team who helped with our suitcases to/from the room. It's was a bit of a distance but you did it with such grace and smile. Thank you a million times. 🫶 All the meals we had were delicious - thanks Chef Fred. 😋 Also thanks to Elsie, Nickson, Annette. These are the names I remember, but all the restaurant team we encountered were super lovely and helpful. What a superb place.
