This is an older hotel which I happened to love. It still is very comfortable and very close to the city so one can walk to town and see all the city sights. Opposite the sea. The manger and his wife, Maliu & Masela are absolutely fantastic in every way. If something is not right and they can fix it, they will. If you would like a tour of the island Maliu is your man. He did a private day tour for me and it was so enjoyable, at my pace and he was born here so knows the island inside and out. HIs wife runs the hotel beautifully and I love the what they call "continental breakfast included". It is a full meal and brought to your table daily with smiles. All staff are wonderful. I really loved my week at this hotel and would highly recommend it. The restaurant within the hotel has great food. They have a new building being built on the southern side of the hotel so I would ask for a room on the Western side for now as it is quieter. They also provided transport to/from the airport at a charge but that was stipulated and I was happy to pay.

Pretty good the staff was nice they help very well. Breakfast was good. Definitely will book it again. You get what you pay for it’s not a 5 star hotel. I was pretty much out all day. You need somewhere to lay your head and enjoy The views of Tonga.

3-star at best and that's being generous. The walls are not insulated from noise. Old outdated furnishing, pillow cases seemed clean, but stained, sheets torn in places, ceiling, walls and wood trim peeling in places, bathroom fan didn't work, towels felt like sandpaper, strong smell of disinfectant, TV was broken, they couldn't fix it and wouldn't replace it, just said "oh well," sketchy wifi, but nice staff-Nai is awesome, good AC and close to the ocean. You could do better with a different hotel, one that actually provides the services that it advertises.

The best hotel in Tonga to stay. Friendly customers services, rooms clean and comfortable and food delicious, fast service and price is right. This is my hotel of choices. Security officer boy he is so friendly. Thank you officer!!

I was disappointed with my stay at the Emerald hotel. The cost was fairly expensive compared with staying in NZ…but the room, service and breakfast were poor. The bathroom was not clean…towels were grubby…towels were not in the room when arriving after midnight nor was milk for a cup of tea. Floor in shower was dangerously slippery for elderly folks. Tv took 30 minutes to connect and get going…next night it did not go again as it was not explained a different tuning was needed. Communication on many such points was poor or non existent. The continental breakfast was poor…2 pieces of white toast lump of jam. 2 pieces of fruit. 2 boiled eggs….EVERY DAY…not good for competitive athletes…no cook to provide alternatives. Office lady was friendly and helped carry heavy bag upstairs.

The Emerald Hotel was a lovely place to stay. Those who worked there were so kind and friendly. We loved our stay. A special thanks to Nai on the reception.

The staff here are amazing and go above and beyond to help solve any issues, close to downtown and market, lots withing walking distance, on the waterfront

I booked a ground floor room but didnt get it, the fridg was on the floor and it was rust only one chair next to the table one curtain which didn't cover the window, Broken shower door and broken toilet roll holder

The mattress is not so fantastic (old and makes a lot of noise) and cleaning is not done routinely. They clean only on request. This is contrary to my experience in the hotels back home in Nigeria, where cleaning is routine.

Hotel room is too outdated and old,some lighting no works,matress was uncomfortable, you can feel mattress springs easily. Buffet Breakfast reminder me my military service when we was on combat zone! It is just 2 slice toast,one spoon jam,one piece of fruit and one smal cap of coffee!only thing was good about Staff,they been so friendly and welcoming.

The staff, including the restaurant are excellent. I can't say enough of the warm hospitality that was offered me throughout my 2 week stay. The hotel is well situated to lively nightime food options, walking along the waterfront, and close to town. The hotel is a little tired, but it also had its charm. Do yourself a favour and book one of the rooms facing the water - evenings on the patio taking in the ambiance are well worth the few extra $$ (versus a room with no balcony). Will definately go back to the Emerald. Thanks to the staff - wonderful!

Over priced , the property is. Falling apart with dust mites eating the furniture , door frame are falling off. Breakfast is 7.00 to 9.00 , you should go down as the is on milk in the room the have coffee or tea not even a spoon.

Staff was sweet.They were always helpful and professional. The only thing I didn't like was the parking spaces. Because this is also a bar &restaurant the parking spots sometimes full. We had a rental car and we didn't want to park it anywhere else but the hotel. Other then that I enjoyed my stay. Thank you so much.

Booked the suite with my husband. The space is great with a nice big studio rokm with a couch. Balcony was large and had table and chairs for 4. These may be the only positives. The bathroom was filthy, hair left in the bathroom, the drain cover left strewn on the floor, toilet seat was too small for the toilet bowl it was literally wobbling off. Kitchenette area was sticky not wiped down from previous guests. Only provided coffee mugs, no drinking glasses. When we went down to request glasses the staff member said we couldnt have glasses and made us purchase disposable plastic cups? Charging your inhouse guests for something that should be in the room already is crazy, especially after booking your most expensive room. Continental Breakfast in the morning was great. With a lovely attentive local staff member working. Great customer service from her.

The staff were excellent but the room was not too great. TV was cracked and unusable. Tea and coffee facilities but no bottled water or milk provided. Restaurant good and breakfast pleasant. No sleep possible firstly due to there being a karaoke session from a nearby place that finally ended at 615am. Then loud talking and laughing in the corridor and adjacent room. Will not stay here again.
