Memorable Stay with Exceptional Personal Touch We recently stayed at Jafferji Beach Retreat in Matemwe, and overall it was a memorable experience. The highlight of our stay was definitely the incredible hospitality from General Manager Anish. He personally took us on a tour of Stone Town, which was such a thoughtful and special gesture. He also arranged for us to visit their beautiful sister hotel, Jafferji House & Spa, which gave us a wonderful glimpse into the brand’s unique style and history. His hands-on approach and genuine care for guests truly stood out. The beach location in Matemwe is peaceful and scenic — perfect for a relaxing getaway. The staff were friendly and always willing to assist. That said, our room did have a few issues. We experienced some problems with the water, and there was no fridge in the room, which would have been helpful given the warm Zanzibar climate. These were small inconveniences but worth mentioning for improvement. Despite this, the personal attention and overall atmosphere made our stay special. With a few improvements to room amenities and maintenance, this retreat has the potential to be exceptional.

An absolute dream trip from start to finish! The staff here couldn’t have done more to make us feel comfortable and make sure our trip was the most enjoyable experience possible. The food was 10/10, the rooms are beautiful traditional rooms that are so clean. We had a massage each which was an unforgettable experience. A special mention to Anish who went above and beyond for us throughout our whole stay you’ve truly made our trip so special. Would recommend this hotel any day of the week

I stayed at Jafferji Beach Retreat with my family over Christmas and had a great experience. The location is beautiful and peaceful, exactly what you want when visiting Zanzibar. The food was consistently very good, and the resort created an amazing festive atmosphere over Christmas that made the stay feel special and memorable. A big thank you to the manager, Anish. He was hands-on, professional, and genuinely helpful throughout our stay. Nothing felt like too much trouble. He even took me on his bike to get a beard trim in the village — which really shows the kind of personal attention and care he gives his guests. That level of service is rare and truly appreciated. Overall, a great stay with warm hospitality. We would definitely return.

At one point I wanted to visit a European shop nearby, and he personally took me there on his bike! That level of kindness and personal care is something you don’t find everywhere. The food was absolutely delicious – fresh, flavorful and beautifully prepared every time. We genuinely looked forward to every meal. And Christmas at the resort was magical. The team made it so special and festive, creating such a warm and joyful atmosphere. It really felt like we were part of something special, not just guests.
