The hotel is in a very good location to get around Edinburgh and a good selection of food for breakfast.
Though at breakfast one morning there was a cleaning chemical left next to the sauces one morning. So read the labels of the sauces before adding it to your breakfast!
The room we had was okay, the bed was comfortable, but it was a squeeze for two people when getting ready for the day. The shower was set to eco mode so the water wasn’t all that powerful, in addition to that you had to fiddle with the shampoo bottles to get them to work, was like a rubix cube to get the angle right
During the stay in the late hours there was an incident in the kitchen where there was a suspected small fire. The situation was of course distressing to be woken to an alarm, but it wasn’t aided by the lack of communication by the staff members on the desk at the time. We were told to go back to the room, even though the lobby area had a decent amount of smoke in it. Evacuation protocol wasn’t followed…
Overall even though the hotel is in the perfect area to walk around Edinburgh, the hotel itself is a disappointment. I’ve stayed at numerous Moxy hotels around the UK and abroad and this hotel felt like it was a completely other company.
If I came to Edinburgh again, I think I’d stay elsewhere.
