Founded in 1569, Roxas is located around 116 kilometers north of Iloilo City. The area became a chartered city on May 12th, 1951, and was renamed in honor of native Manuel Acuna Roxas, the fourth President of the Philippines and the first of the independent post-American Third Philippine Republic.
