Palms City Resort is a beautiful place to stay. We stayed in March 2024. The staff are extremely courteous and most helpful. The room we stayed in was on the 2nd floor and was spacious and serviced all our needs. It only has two floors and stairs up to it, but they are not arduous. It has a pool which is big enough to do laps in. The grounds are its best asset. Surrounded by lush palms, native trees, and shrubs, it looks like a hotel you would expect to see in tropical Qld. It is a very quiet and peaceful hotel, despite its central location. The location is excellent. It is only a 10 min walk to the main centre of town and right next door to a pub we really enjoyed: The Hotel Darwin. It is right opposite the memorial gardens that lead onto the harbour and at night the sunsets are worthy of photos and meditative relaxation. One of the highlights for us was Pickles, a gorgeous green-cheeked Conure who regularly sits at reception and greets the guests. If we have to be picky, our only complaint is the design of the bathroom vanity, which due to its design becomes flooded with water when you wash your hands or face. We had to continuously wipe it dry with a towel. But that is a mere detail. Otherwise, we would highly recommend this hotel.

Can’t fault it - the staff were lovely, the room was spotless and absolutely perfect the linen in the room perfect - the pool was perfect and the bar opens in the afternoon for cocktails- we will definitely stay here again

The property was good the staff were good, the breakfast was fine. The beds are very cheap, very uncomfortable. How hard is it to buy a mattress that actually gives you a good nights sleep

The room itself was clean and tidy. Nice shower. Beds were comfortable but a little on the short side. Unfortunately, the people in the room next door were a nightmare. Yelling and arguing until 4 in the morning. The hotel staff did eventually remove them. I have stayed here before and never had any issues like this. It was a pity this happened because it spouled what could have been a nice weekend

Excellent staff on reception - room cleaning service was mixed - excellent some days, other days it was left as if it had been rushed - part made beds but was always left clean. The Harbour Villa was well equipped with a great balcony area - some traffic noise around 8am for 30 mins but the view over esplanade/sea was fantastic. The extended use of the room for 2 hours until midday was appreciated but AU$50 was a little excessive for such a short extention
