Good place to stay if you want somewhere quieter than central Victoria but close to airport too. The Latch Inn has alot of interesting history as well as it's traditional build and feel. Breakfast was great and staff very helpful. Could use a bit of modernisation in the rooms and make better use of both the garden and room balcony with access.

Great historical property located on a harbor, that was comfortable and interesting. Unfortunately, we missed their breakfast, as we had to leave before breakfast service started at 8 a.m. They did provide a to-go bag of goodies; the only recommendation I would make is that they not heat the bagel (they gave us the bag the night before) as it was hard as a rock by the time we left in the morning and not easily edible.

I loved the heritage building and all the antiques. The breakfast in the lovely old furnished dining room was very good and complementary. The waiter gave excellent customer service. On the downside, the room smelled horribly of some pungent air freshener. I’m very sensitive to toxic fragrances. We opened all the windows. When returning to the room for the night it was very cold. There’s only a plug in electric heater & when I turned it on it blew a fuse & the TV wouldn’t work again. The parking is in an area you walk to behind the building through a little park walkway. Very expensive at nearly $400-00 per night. No one was around when we checked out. My 90 yr old aunt froze in her room with only an electric fireplace.

The price for this hotel does not reflect the services provided / lack of knowledge of the current employees. Communication was an issue. Supper was so terrible. Although it was nice to be offered a “to go” breakfast as our flight left very early, it was terrible. Bread was beyond dry, server in the patio lounge seemed like he was brand new as well as the gentleman checking people in. It seemed that they were on day 1 of work there. The room we were in had carpet that was not very clean looking. Bed was very comfortable. It was just a shame that the service did not match the atmosphere at all. Very disappointing as this place could be a little gem.

Our first impression was good, until we noticed all the stains on the carpet in our room. The Lady Byng room. They may have been cleaned, but the stains remained. The breakfast, including the presentation, was lovely. The lounge was lovely with interesting artifacts. Parking was convenient. I went to the office at 10:45 on the morning of our departure to buy some coffee; the office sign said closed from 11-4.

Charming heritage inn with great potential We stayed one night in the Library Suite. The Latch Inn is a beautiful old heritage property in a great location, close to the airport and marina. The lounge and outside patio were lovely, and the nearby marina restaurant was excellent. The staff were friendly, enthusiastic, and seemed genuinely interested in improving the guest experience. That said, the room itself needs attention. It was large and full of character, but some basic guest-facing details were missed: inconsistent lighting, exposed fluorescent lighting that felt out of place in a century home, small holes in the bathroom tile, a loose wall shelf, and a shower drain that backed up. I understand the property has recently changed hands, and it feels like a place with real potential. I’m giving it 4 stars because of the location, charm, staff, and overall promise, but the room was closer to a 3-star experience. With attention to the obvious maintenance items, this could easily become a 5-star stay.

This was my second time staying at The Latch Inn. It has a lovely setting by the marina. The rooms are very majestic. The staff is very polite and oh so helpful. The breakfast dining room is lovely and the food was perfect. The only thing I would comment on is that there was a slight smell of gas coming from the fireplace in the dining hall which my husband reported to the staff and another guest also reported the smell that had been coming from their fireplace in their suite. So our hope was that they would have someone qualified check into it.
