The location at Paddington station was wonderful as it was so convenient to Heathrow for an early morning flight. The staff was incredibly unhelpful when we needed help storing luggage, which ended up being a blessing so we only booked for one night. We had 2 tower rooms, which are supposedly, the best they had. The room (and the entire hallway leading to the room) was sweltering, but I assumed the air had been turned to low and would improve when we were at dinner. No - the room was 24.9 Celsius through the night and the morning. Then, the shower stayed warm, not quite a cold shower, but how does a 4 star property not even have hot water. So thankful we had only booked for one night. Terrible, but we were lucky enough to get to the room at 5 pm and we were fortunate to be out the door by 10 am. Hated it. Also, we were Hilton Honors members. Can’t imagine how bad it would be if we were not.

I have stayed at this hotel (in the Tower Rooms only!) from time to time over the years and it serves a specific purpose: convenience to the Tube and convenience to the Heathrow Express. The Hotel has a back entrance that takes you right into Paddington station, I also like sitting in the executive lounge overlooking the Station. The main hotel part looks worn and "tired" at least from the Hallway, the decor and rooms are much nicer on the Tower Side but they jacked up the price of these rooms to almost match those in Mayfair!

This hotel is ideally located if you are arriving or departing from Paddington Station. You literally walk out the side door of the hotel and you are in the shopping area of the station and it's a quick elevator or escalator ride to the platforms. Regarding the hotel itself, the room we had was a little dated, with furniture that was probably top of the line in the 1980's. There were signs announcing that renovations were going to begin soon. Also, the hotel is sprawling. We had a very long walk to our room, and with heavy luggage it was a bit annoying. Don't be afraid to ask for something by the "lifts" if you don't want to roll your bags all the way to the end of a long and winding corridor. Finally, on the night we were there, there was a fire alarm at 1:00 AM and we were asked to evacuate the hotel. We were allowed back in fairly quickly, but the hotel's communication about the incident really was substandard and there was confusion about whether it was safe to go back in, what the situation was and no compensation was offered.

The hotel is old and needs an update. The bar staff made me feel uncomfortable traveling as a single women and wanting to have a drink by myself and watch golf. They double charged for me for my drink. And the fire alarm went off at 1:00 pm and we had to evacuate.

Overall, we had a good experience and found the staff courteous and accommodating. That said, there were a few issues that affected our stay. After the first night, we had to change rooms because the electrical fuse box servicing our original room repeatedly shorted out. As a result, we lost power to the television and were unable to charge our iPhones and other devices reliably. Fortunately, once we moved to a different room, the problem disappeared entirely and the remainder of our stay was much smoother. The hotel itself also appears to be in need of some updating. Certain areas felt dated, with worn carpeting, aging furnishings, and décor that could benefit from modernization and a general refresh. While none of this ruined the experience, a facelift would go a long way toward improving the overall atmosphere and bringing the property more in line with current standards and guest expectations.
