Mercure Chester Abbots Well Hotel

Just an overnight stay but the staff are very friendly and a tentative. Room was very clean the bed was very comfortable a good choice of breakfast. I’ll be staying again when I’m in the area

The rooms was really really hot. Used the air con and it spewed dust and dirt all over the bed and anything near it (including some of our belongings). USB ports were mostly broken with only 1 by the bedside working. Dimmer switches for the lights didn’t dim - only on or off.

my second stay at the Mercure, and it was even better than the first! The rooms are consistently spotless, The pool area is fantastic super clean, with plenty of space to relax. And the hot tub? Absolutely perfect after a long day the staff were incredibly friendly The room was spotless and so comfy Everything felt really modern and well-maintained, which made my stay feel extra special. Seriously, between the amazing pool and hot tub, and the fantastic location I can't recommend it enough if you're looking for a relaxing and convenient getaway!

I paid just under £100 for one night, which felt a bit high for what was offered. The first thing I noticed was the bed — it was quite small, especially for two adults, and not particularly comfortable. There were also some maintenance issues. The drawers were broken or missing, so there was nowhere to store belongings. In the bathroom, the bath itself was very small, even for someone of a smaller build, and the layout was awkward — opening the door would hit the toilet, and it wouldn’t shut properly. Additionally, some of the bathroom tiles were broken, which made the space feel a bit worn and in need of repair. Overall, the stay was okay, but there’s definitely room for improvement, particularly considering the price.

This is our second visit to this hotel and we will return next time we are in Chester. The location with the Park & Ride next door is very handy for visiting the city. The large on site parking is ideal. Food purchased was very good. The pool of course is a bonus. All members of staff we met from the receptionists to the room attendants were friendly and professional. The only thing missing was a fridge in the room.

We went for breakfast at 9 am, it closed at 10 and the hot food that was out needed replenishing. What was there had been sitting a while. Staff in reception, spa and restaurant were excellent and the best part of the stay. The hotel needs updating, rusty pipes in the pool area, padlocks given to lock lockers, dated decor in rooms etc. It isn’t a 4* property.

Hotel was run down , facilities need updating, there was a damp smell throughout the hotel that hit you as soon as you enter reception. Very disappointing

Ideal position for a stop en-route north. Easy parking for my motorcycle. Breakfast really good. Staff amazing

Perfect hotel for a few nights no frills stay. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Room was clean. Hotel is dated but very reasonable price.

Room was clean and tidy , staff were welcoming and polite. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. Spa was very good and we used all facilities. Overall we were very happy with our time at the hotel . Its position relative to Chester suited us as we like to walk and we walked the canal path that was only a few minutes away from the hotel. Would use this hotel again .

Bathrooms very tired lots of lights out

Room was nice and spacious, very accommodating, breakfast had plenty of options the hash browns could do to be a bit more well done but otherwise it was good! There was an event on whilst we stayed there which could have been better organised so all the people attending the event stay at one part of the hotel so that drunk attendees weren’t shouting and screaming and playing loud music at 1am in the morning!
