Good check in, room was fine, although bed was on the small side. Bathroom was well equipped, good shower. Something fell down behind one of the bedside cabinets sadly very dusty behind

A lovely country house hotel on the outskirts of Haywards Heath ( we walked into town a number of times in 20 minutes or so ) The building and decor are in great condition with lots of character remaining. Our room was spacious and very comfortable as well as very well equipped. The room was serviced daily with fresh consumables including water and biscuits. The bathroom was fairly modern and light and airy. The bar and bistro area look to have been recently refurbed in a fairly modern style and there is outdoor seating too. We only had breakfasts at the hotel but found the food to be well cooked and presented and very enjoyable. We had a few niggles and these may be down to low staffing levels, firstly although our room was generally lovely, cleaning was lacking. Most of the hard surfaces had a thick layer of dust and there was quite a lot of cobwebs and spiders around the ceiling, windows and even in the bathroom. Service at the bar and even at Reception was sometimes lacking too. This said, we really enjoyed our stay and may well return one day.

Just spent a fab night in the excellent Birch Hotel. Everything was great, room, food and staff, most particularly Kim on Reception. I'm very happy to recommend this little gem. Thank you. Patrick S

The room was okay but the remote for the AC didn’t work. The plugs that are available don’t work for apple laptops chargers. The garbage been wasn’t cleared from the previous guest. There cleanliness of the room needs to be address

I only had breakfast, which was a buffet, hot and continental, lots of choice. Hot breakfast was lovely.

Lovely historical features. Friendly staff who went above and beyond during my stay.

From check in to check out, nothing was to much trouble for the staff. Needed to print a couple of documents out that id forgotten to pack. Not a problem, emailed them and they printed them without any bother. Room was the perfect size with a very comfortable bed. Been a real building and not a prefab, the walls were nice and thick so no hearing other guests in their rooms. Bathroom was suprisingly large, modern, and extremely clean. The shower was a walking with actual room to swing the proverbial cat, a powerfull shower that was straight forward to use, and one that can be held to rince the places fixed showers cant reach unless you hand stand. Wifi was free, easy to connect and fast enough to stream a film without freezing up. After stopping at a dozen hotels this year so far around the UK, i can honestly say, this provided the best nights sleep mile a mile. Id like to say a big thank you to all the staff here from the Reception team, to the housekeeping staff, a very big thank you for making my stay such a good one leaving me refreashed for the day ahead at the South of England Show Ground just up the road.

Great hotel and a welcome tour down history. Nice rooms, modern renovations and has everything needed inside rooms. Luggage was carried up to room for me as staircases are quite narrow, but it's part of the old character of hotel and beautifully maintained. Staff were super friendly and helpful. I'd stay here again anytime

Our room was ment to have a bath it didn’t, it was really noisy compared to other stays here! There was a stain on the carpet the air con underneath the carpet was soaking wet?

Great family hotel , very friendly at check in and room upgraded at no extra cost with an air conditioned room .

During check in we were informed there was no Restaurant service although we had chosen this Hotel as it had Restaurant facilities and the listed menu suited our tastes. We attempted to get clarification of when the the Restaurant would open and it was suggested not during our 4 night stay. As can been from the attached photo only soup and sandwiches could be offered for Dinner although it was noticeable functions were catered for during our stay. We were disappointed that reception would not provide any guidance of alternative places to obtain dinner in the area. We were therefore required to look for ourselves in a unfamiliar area. Reading reviews this does not appear to be a one off experience so beware of what is offered. We believe the Hotel should have given prior warning that this service was not available.

Property is in a lovely location, however.., bath plug - release mechanism is faulty so unable to drain bath, air-con - sounds like a helicopter gunship, also currently no chef on site so they are unable to serve evening meals.
