The only hotel where I have stayed recently to find the soap dispenser doesn’t fall apart when depressed!

Clean, comfortable, peaceful room in a classical, Regency style hotel. Buffet breakfast was more than sufficient and served in a lovely dining room. All the staff were friendly and efficient and i cant recommend this hotel highly enough.

Lovely bright spacious room, really comfy bed. Modern bathroom with plenty of fluffy towels and shower worked very well. Temperature in the room was just right. All the staff cheerful, welcoming, friendly and very helpful.
Great choice for a cooked breakfast with hot plates, and plenty of other options breakfast wise too. Quiet even though near a main road. Would definitely recommend this hotel and l wouldn`t hesitate to stay here again. I booked the Birch Hotel as it was in a central location for a couple of days of visiting nearby Gardens ie Borde Hill, Leonardslee and Wakehurst Place, so glad l did.

Very dated, needs a refurb. Beautiful building with lots of potential. Needs better toiletries in the bathroom. Breakfast was lovely. Taxis came instantly.

The tv didn’t work. Reported on 1st night. Promised to rectify next day. Never happened.
There was no hot water. Reported on 1st night. Told to run tap for a long time.
Shower was not fit for purpose. I could not get it to work other than cold.
There was no extractor working in the tiny en-suite.

Great choice for a cooked breakfast with hot plates, and plenty of other options breakfast wise too. Quiet even though near a main road. Everyone was really helpful. A little tired in public areas would be only issue. We had a problem regulating the temperature in the shower, but they allowed us to use another unoccupied room to have our showers. Breakfast was great quality and taste.

I have been staying at the Birch Hotel for years. It’s comfortable and clean but what I like is it has character not like a typical plastic hotel! Staff always give a warm welcome and helpful with special requests. Bar food is ok a little on the pricey side (maybe normal though these days) and basic but something for everyone. As it is close to the town centre I expect a lot of guests generate towards the high street restaurants so no need for a more comprehensive menu. A nice place to wind down after a days work ( in my case).

Room was clean but there was alot of cobwebs swinging from the ceiling. Water struggled to drain when showering so ended up standing ankle deep in water after washing. Bed was comfy, breakfast was enjoyable. Handy for the hospital.
