I really loved my stay at the Axel. The front desk team were so welcoming, friendly and helpful especially Ramona! I will be sure to stay at Axel hotels worldwide! Thank for an excellent holiday experience.

I was double-charged for city fees, and when I questioned them at checkout, the front desk person said, 'I see that you paid at check-in, but there's nothing I can do now to make a note.' The beds are hard and uncomfortable. It feels like an afterthought hotel. I've stayed at two other Axel locations, and this one is, by far, the worst. I would not recommend anyone to stay.

Axel Hotel has become worn & tired, and consequently poor value for money.

Loved this property, we had a junior suit and it did not disappoint. Lots of good quality restaurants within easy walking distance. It’s right on the edge of the gay area so could walk to lots of gay bars. Easy Uber transport into heart of Berlin for museums and other cultural visits. We would stay again.

This is my hotel for Berlin hands down! It’s in the gay district and surrounded by bars and restaurants and the metro is blocks away! Love this place and will stay again

Property gouged me on price, I booked a room direct with them on their own website, and another 2 on Expedia, 2 days before my stay they canceled the only room I’d booked direct (for €470) with no explanation, eventually spoke to reception who so and the GM had told them to cancel my suite as they’d double booked it. They had a dozen other rooms they could have moved my reservation to, however they forced me to rebook a lower room on a new reservation that cost twice as much as my original! Do not book this hotel, shady business practices, room was filthy, the bath area I ended up cleaning myself because it was disgusting, the FOH team (with the exception of Kevin) are mostly rude and one two occasions I was stood there walked them get caught out talking s**t about the guest checking not realising they could speak German. Whole hotel is insanely dark, worn out and old, you spend your entire time trying to see yourself in your room mirrors and walking out into the hall using one of those mirrors. I spent $25k last year with the Miami property and assumed that the Berlin and Madrid properties would be as good, they are terrible. GM refuses to ever leave their office and speak to guests. As a hotel operator and marketing agency I can tell you this hotel operates WAAAY outside the normal hotel practice - booker beware!

Room was so dusty, in the air, on all the surfaces, tried to spend as little time in the room as possible. Great location and really freindly staff, but won't be back.

The stay here was fine, the property is starting to show its age, and the mattresses are hard as a rock, but the staff are lovely and very helpful. Tip if you book a more expensive room such as a junior suite - request a high floor. I was on level 2 and had constant traffic noise, could hear the conversations of people on the street at all hours of the night, and at times could smell cigarette smoke coming up from street level.

Nice location, room did not have full heat, but had a weird little space heater that did the trick.

Excellent place to stay. My room and bath were immaculate. The hotel offers a good breakfast from a menu, and is the evening the restaurant features Georgian (Caucasian) cuisine. It is within walking distance from Nollendorf Platz, and is a block away from the Wittenbergplatz U-bahn station which makes it easy to go anywhere and do anything in Berlin.

I chose the hotel because of its location and that didn’t disappoint. However the room was deeply disappointing in several respects and the staff could only offer very limited help. Firstly, the room was decorated in black with very low levels of lighting. The staff couldn’t provide any additional lighting and I had to use a torch to find things. Secondly there was only one power socket and that was at the foot of the bed. The staff did find a very short extension lead so I could charge two items at once, but they had to be on the floor out of reach when in bed. There was very little cupboard or drawer space for clothes and nowhere to put an empty suitcase. The shower was good.

Axel Berlin is a solid choice for LGBTQ or ally travelers while in the city. This property is showing a bit of age, but it’s still fine.

Staff was amazing and property has amazing qualities but…. Showers leaked all over the bathroom floors…. Hot tub in the spa wouldn’t get hot…. Jet tub in the room didn’t work… but I would stay again!!

The hotel is in a great gay neighborhood. Bear Bars and Leather Bars within walking distance as well as Adult Stores and gay coffee shops and bookstores. The property itself is dated and could use a soft goods refresh but I enjoyed my stay. Great front desk team and good housekeeping service.

Significantly improved since 2020-2022 when it really went downhill with the clientele it attracted. A lot cleaner, no strange people hanging around & overall a lot clean and tidier. Jacuzzi didn’t work at all which was very disappointing. As with all other Axels, a €150 refundable deposit is payable on arrival & then city taxes payable on departure. Can’t fault it overall unless I end up having to chase for my refundable deposit as Axel Miami I had to chase 3 times before it was eventually released.
