This hotel is a bit older but it is located right on the beach. The staff here were all extremely helpful, and the woman who cleaned our room every day was very thorough. We thought the cost of a junior suite was very reasonable and saved us on the cost of eating out. The hot water was not really that hot, and the decor is vintage, but we we would not hesitate to stay again at this hotel. Everything you need is nearby, and if there is anything you want help with just politely ask, they will do their best to help.

Nice warm pool all day/night 9pm long, huge win with my whole group. Everything was clean, staff amazing. We were impressed that from our rooms we could hear ocean. I loved the fact that we were so close to the Ocean. We couldn't even hear the traffic from front of hotel. We always felt safe. When u hear that people have been coming here for the last 30yrs. I fell walking on the big rocks at outlet, came back to Costa de Oro, went straight to life guard- Ricardo, i didn't have to ask, as soon as he saw blood he started working on me. I had him, 2 security guards n an English speaking front desk man helping me. Ricardo did what he could, then they sent me to in house doctor. He did what he could but because it was Sun he couldn't get extra supplies. So he called the ambulance and they took me to the marina hospital. They were great have to have 5 stitches to my head- from the time it took from life guard to end of hospital was 2 hrs...way faster then here in Alberta...I probably would still be sitting in emergency here. Everyone took great care of me. The only thing our group would like is more softer beds. I would also like a fridge in the basic rooms (since even in all inclusives they have fridges) and i wish there was a gym but I survived, I used the pool and ocean to exercise. We loved this place better than an all inclusive. We loved trying out all the different restaurants in area. We tried different place every night, prices were good n so were the portions n flavours.

The building needs remodeling. If you end up in the X31-X60 room number range, where X is the floor number, you will be exposed to the central air conditioning compressor system, which is noisy. The shower drain has no smell lock, so the sewage system exhausts into your bath room.

This was my second time staying at Costa De Oro in less than 2 months because this resort hotel is excellent for the value. All the staff is very friendly, the rooms are clean, the location is perfect. We had some minor issues which were handled far beyond our expectations to ensure we will be staying at this resort again when we next visit beautiful Mazatlán.

We have stayed at the hotel on annual vacations for 30+ years. The location in the Golden Zone is fantastic and the pool area is one of the best in the area. However, there have been minimal if any upgrades to the rooms in that time. They have removed the water dispensers that used to be available on each floor so you now have to buy bottled drinking water. There are televisions in the room, but we had no English speaking channels this year. The rooms are clean, but the decor is old and shabby. This year, there were dripped and splashed paint/whitewash on the floors , walls, and artwork. The beachfront loung areas are fantastic, though security did not allow us to enjoy our coffee and pastries from a nearby shop on the pool patio. Any food ordered at the pool is now prepared at the poolside snack bar, and is not up to the quality it was when it was prepared by the restaurant. The Ceviche is excellent, but other items were cold or dry and overcooked. They seem to now cater more to the locals and those with all-inclusive stays than foreign visitors. The hotel seemed to clear out many of our favorite staff members about 6 or 7 years ago. We are no longer treated like an old friend, but the new staff, while not the same, is still friendly and attentive.

The room had a mold smell to it, the bed had bloodstains on the pillow cover, the first night that we checked in they gave us a room key to our room. We opened it, and there was a family sleeping inside., that was scary, there are two babies, sleeping on a bed, and the mother and father and another bed, and they had not even noticed that we opened up their room. The bellboy ran to front desk to get it corrected, but I would hate to have been on the other side of that room.

I never write reviews but here I go…The room was severely neglected. No phone, nothing on the walls, absolutely no decor. Gnats on the counter. Water was barely warm so no hot showers. The ceiling leaked with the constant noise of running water over head. The first night we thought it was the rain but nope. This was the third time staying here over a period of 23 years. Sadly will not be staying here again.
