Five stars aren’t enough. The room was spotless, the staff were absolute gems, and the vibe made leaving emotionally difficult. Would happily get lost here again

Easy check in, friendly staff, clean rooms, comfy beds and a good location. My family loved seeing the sunrise over the ocean from the roof.

The sea view is horrible The floors are really dirty The power has went out 5 times, at least once per day. Leaving you in complete dark for 30 minutes sometimes The pictures we seen about our room showed the pool attached but when we got here it wasn’t There are connecting doors to other rooms inside the room we rented and the both rooms echo, you’ll hear everything This morning we woke up to no water The area around the hotel is very, very dirty. Literal garbage beside the parking lot Construction starts at 8am it’s like an alarm. I’m only half way into a week stay lol, if you can find something else. Pretty sure the good comments are bots this place is hell

Clean, modern and we had an amazing 2-day stay. Kurt the front desk manager was super helpful and we would definitely stay here again next time we’re in Tulum. It’s near the beach and all the restaurants plus shopping. We knew Tulum would be expensive, but honestly, I’m not sure if it’s worth it and I thought California was expensive.

Everything was excellent. All of the staff were courteous and Kurt was really friendly and helpful. The hotel is between the beach and town. It is not walkable. It we rented a car and took advantage of all Tulum has to offer! We are already planning our return trip!

The staff was courteous. On the last day we had a short tour in the morning and needed a late check out. Nobody was on the front desk at 7am to arrange for late check out, so we left. While on our tour I called and let them know about late check out. A few minutes later I received a text message stating that they needed to empty and clean the room for the next guest and that our belongings would be moved out even though the hotel was fairly empty. When we got back to the hotel, fortunately our belongings where still in the room. We where charged $30 for late check out.

I wish I could rate Otonomus Tulum higher but there were too many things that made our stay less than ideal. Pros- staff were attentive and helpful. Private terrace was great! Views from our room were great and we were so thankful for Uber Eats as this hotel is not near restaurants or grocery stores. Cons: multiple plumbing issues in bathrooms, on demand hot water did not work at all so lots of cold showers, curtains in bedrooms did not fully cover windows so lacked privacy and due to the time difference it was difficult to sleep with sunlight shining in. No wash cloths or dish towels. Living room and dining room seating was very uncomfortable. When I travel back I will be finding a place either in Tulum centro or the hotel zone. TIP: use the Indrive app for car service! We got the best deals on rides this way.

The hotel has the potential to be amazing. It's a work on progress. As each unit is independently owned there are differences between units. Was disappointed there was no microwave in either of the units we used. There was also no grill on the swim deck. The view from the top floor was great. Towered over the jungle below. The bed was firm but comfortable. There is adjoining room doors and we could hear our neighbors conversation and I felt soundproofing should be better. Note we had 2 studio with rooftop pool rooms. The pool and rooftop are on top of the unit but you have to leave the unit in common hallway to get to the roof and pool. It's not secured to your room. Even though it's for your exclusive use others could easily go into the rooftop. The roof pool is sun heated and it was not warm. A car is a must to fully enjoy the area the road to walk to the beach is sketchy! It has little to no shoulder and I would not ride a bike on it either. But that could just be my preference. Overall I would stay here again. I am not sure it warrants 4 stars but. Solid 3 for sure. There was an empty pepper shaker and one salt shaker in our room. They provide one towel if u want a pool towel you can ask for one.

Honestly, my stay at Otonomus Tulum was way better than I expected. From the moment I walked in, everything just felt calm and well taken care of. The room was spotless, smelled fresh, and actually looked exactly like the photos, and that's rare. The staff were super friendly without being annoying just the right balance. What really stood out for me was how peaceful the whole place felt. No noise, no chaos, just good vibes. The amenities were simple but thoughtful, and everything worked the way it should. Overall, it’s the kind of stay where you check out thinking, Yeah… I’d definitely come back.

Kert is the best

Room should have basic refreshments like water and ice in the fridge. Not charge guests for “makeup” on pillows. Noises from other units are very loud. No access to security after hours.

The room was good, pool was great and Kurt at the front desk was the highlight, he was always helpful and full of information on Tulum.

Otonomus Hotel is absolutely amazing. The entire experience is fully automated, smooth, and hassle-free. From check-in to room access, everything works perfectly. The hotel is modern, clean, and truly delivers an excellent stay. Highly recommended!
