That the hotel is very well located is absolutely the only positive aspect about it. After one has dragged one’s luggage up a short but inconvenient set of stairs the reality of where one has booked rapidly sets in. A shabby reception area awaits and we were asked to pay upon checking in. I suspect this is because people take one look at their room and wish to leave. There was nowhere secure to store luggage while we waited for the room to be ready; we were told to put it in the pile with several others just off of the reception area. The room was minuscule even by European standards and the in room safe was so small that it was basically worthless. Also, and this might be very important to some people, there’s no individual heating/air con control in the room. All of this for over €300 per night. Can’t urge you strongly enough to stay elsewhere.

Everyone from check-in to leaving and needing help with a taxi and going the extra way to speak to the Emergency number at AMAWaterways to get the address for where we meet the boat (I didn't write it down!) and communicate it to the Taxi driver, who was also so nice. The breakfast offered was convenient and good (not great, but good), but it was a very authentic AMS experience for us. The room was small, but had everything we needed for our one night stay. We wanted to be facing the canal and there was a lot of people out on a Friday night that I hadn't realized would be gathering beneath our window. We didn't mind, but take that into consideration if you want to stay at Hotel Nes or a more modern hotel nearby.

The best thing, or amenity about Hotel Nes is its location; it’s perfectly situated in Amsterdam. It’s within walking distance to everything from museums you don’t want to miss, Anne Frank’s House, Rembrandt’s home, the Jewish History, Van Gogh, MOCA, and Rijks museums. I don’t know about other rooms, but the single rooms are as small as I imagine a jail cell would be. There’s no room to put your clothes away if you don’t like living out of your suitcase. There’s a small three shelf attached to the very narrow desk that has a textured surface that makes it difficult to write post cards on or to add travel journal entries. The small chair and the bed are all you can sit in. The bathroom is also tiny, but very well designed. I stayed on the fourth floor and used the elevator rather than navigate the tiny spiral-like staircase (typical for any residence in Amsterdam because they’re very narrow in width). Breakfast was fine; a wonderful coffee maker allows guests a big menu of coffee drinks, as well as a standard cup. I stayed at the hotel for 7 days and my room was not cleaned until I complained on day three. There are decent restaurants nearby, but across the canal has two very good options located within pricey hotels. The Flower Market is a five minute walk away, so don’t miss it!

Just hard to sleep for the whole family. Maybe get the windows switched out to noise cancelling for future. Then then this problem everything else was great

Check in was late because the room was not ready. We were exhausted from traveling and slept in the lobby. I was online with another hotel when the owner (didn’t know it was the owner at the time and he never introduced himself that first day or subsequent days) finally told us there was an issue with the room and it would take another 30 minutes! He offered us a drink and snacks for compensation but didn’t inform his staff so we were charged. I said forget it. I will put it in the review The staff was wonderful! The owner not so much. He is in the hospitality business but has no hospitality or people skills. I would NOT stay here again

Phenomenal location very close to tram drop off in middle of canals, restaurants, shops. Great view of canal. Small room, as expected for price in Europe in prime location but has everything you need. Very good breakfast. Uber/Lyft will drop or pick up right in front (this is not true of all streets). Has an elevator. Very friendly and helpful staff. Safe for a solo female traveler or kids. Range of visitors from families to older couples to single professional age travelers. Had some city noise that comes with any city hotel. No restaurant on premise if you need a late night meal but lots of options all around. Good toiletries like both shampoo and conditioner but did not have body lotion. No fridge in room but they can store small things for you (like cheese). They will send an automated WhatsApp message you when you reserve, which is very nice as a back up to this app.
