The vibe of this hotel is great. The rooms were well designed with nice shower and balcony. The outdoor pool wasn’t too busy and a nice place to relax. A lot of places to sit inside and outside here. The food was pretty good as well. Only downside was it’s very loud outside at the plaza with parties, so you will hear that noise at night.

We stayed in the Jardin Room—and it was absolutely worth the extra money. Having a balcony overlooking the square out front was unreal, and the private terrace on the other side of the room made it feel like you had your own little escape within the city. The ceilings are incredibly high, the space is generous, and the whole room blends old-world character with modern touches beautifully. It’s just a really stunning space. The service from the staff was amazing across the board—everyone we interacted with was welcoming, attentive, and genuinely helpful throughout our stay. The area around the hotel in Casco Viejo is one of the best parts of staying here. There are so many great spots for food within walking distance—everything from casual cafés to really well-done restaurants. You could easily spend a few days just trying different places around the neighborhood. The bar scene is just as good, especially the rooftop spots. Being able to grab a drink while looking out over the skyline and the water is a pretty unique experience. The history in this area is what really sets it apart. Walking through the streets, you’re surrounded by restored colonial buildings, plazas, and landmarks that give you a real sense of Panama’s past. We also did the Panama City Hop-On Hop-Off Bus, which was a great way to see more of the city in a short amount of time. We felt very safe staying in the area. It’s well-patrolled, busy, and full of people throughout the day and evening.

The location of this hotel is excellent and the style of the rooms and lobby are very nice. Showers however leave something to be desired. The water pressure was intense and the temperature was constantly changing.

Everything was fantastic except the hot water situation. We stayed 5 days and only had hot water for two days. It was due to a broken pipe underneath the building. They worked hard to fix it, but even after the repairs, hot water was limited. Desk staff and especially Porter Angel really worked hard to make our stay enjoyable.

A lovely hotel in the center of old city. But if you like sleeping this may not be the place for you. Hotel is surrounded by nightclubs on all sides which don’t close until 4 am (music is often so loud you can feel it). And at 6:30 am the bells begin every 15 minutes. Tremendous hotel, staff and location if you can sleep through a rock concert!

Disappointed. Booked a premium room , 101, and was given a handicap room where the shower water sprayed all over the floor. Guests should be told if a handicap room is given. In addition, there was a loud noise every 45 seconds that would run for about 30 seconds under the floor. i believe it was the AC for the lobby below. Very annoying. Discussed both issues with the front desk and there was no action.

The one thing I can say about the American Trade is it has the best location in Old Town. The staff was friendly but the room was from the 30's. It was clean and the A/C worked well. Not very comfortable furniture, the TV was impossible to use and not much useful storage for my wife and I , who are not light travelers. If you are looking for a nostalgic experience this is it. We signed up for breakfast $10 each a day. It was limited but freshly prepared and good. They have car service to the airport and from Cruise terminal for $20 per person, I think was a god deal.

This is one of the most beautiful hotels I've ever stayed in. It's not extremely fancy, but it is 100% lovely. Everybody is very nice, and the restaurant and coffee shop are good, too. It's right in the center of the old town, which is safe, beautiful, and filled with restaurants, but it can get a bit noisy (including at night) and there's a lot of traffic congestion, so getting out of the old town to go to any activities is slow. I would definitely stay here again. It is a special hotel!
