The room I stayed was really spacious. It had a separate living/kitchen room, a bed room and two bath rooms, each with a balcony and great view. The linings were kept fresh and felt clean, not like other hotels in Baguio which use fabric softener washing their linings and left them with cheap perfume smell. Price was great for that kind of room. Service was wonderful. The TV cable in room offered limited foreign channels and was hard to navigate. Wish there was more veggies in breakfast.

Your Travel Guide to Baguio City as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Baguio City from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

From Manila, the most common way to reach Baguio City is by bus. Several bus companies operate routes from terminals like Cubao and Pasay. Travel time typically ranges from 6 to 8 hours, depending on traffic and the specific route taken. Fares usually fall between PHP 700 to PHP 1,000 for regular or executive services. Booking your book flight to Clark International Airport (CRK) is another option, followed by a bus or van transfer to Baguio.

For travelers coming from other major Philippine cities like Cebu or Davao, flying into Clark International Airport (CRK) is the most efficient method. From CRK, you can then take a bus directly to Baguio City. This combination of air and land travel minimizes overall journey time compared to solely relying on land transport from distant locations.

Driving to Baguio City from Manila involves taking the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and then the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) towards Tarlac, and finally connecting to the Jose Abad Santos Avenue and then the MacArthur Highway leading to Baguio. The drive can take around 4-6 hours without significant traffic. Toll fees will apply, amounting to approximately PHP 600-800 for a round trip.

Best Time to Visit Baguio City

The coolest months in Baguio City are from December to February, offering the most pleasant weather for exploring. This period is also considered peak season, especially around Christmas and the Panagbenga Festival in February, so expect larger crowds and higher accommodation prices. If you prefer fewer people, consider visiting during the shoulder months.

The "rainy season" typically runs from June to October. While you can expect frequent rainfall, it also means fewer tourists and potentially lower prices. The mist and fog during these months can add a dramatic atmosphere to the city. For a balance of good weather and manageable crowds, the months of March to May or November are often ideal.

Food and Dining Near Baguio City — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

No trip to Baguio is complete without trying its famous strawberries. Enjoy them fresh, in strawberry taho, or as part of a strawberry shortcake. Many local bakeries and cafes offer delicious strawberry-based desserts. For a classic experience, visit a strawberry farm on the outskirts or find vendors selling them fresh along the roadside.

Pinikpikan is a traditional Cordilleran dish that is a must-try for adventurous eaters. This chicken dish is prepared by beating the chicken before cooking, which is said to tenderize the meat and enhance its flavor. It's often cooked with etag (smoked pork) and vegetables. You can find authentic Pinikpikan in local eateries and restaurants specializing in Ilocano or Cordilleran cuisine.

Baguio's version of sinigang, particularly sinigang na baboy or baka, often has a distinct sourness from local ingredients like kamias or tamarind, giving it a unique local flavor. The cooler climate makes a hot, sour soup like sinigang particularly comforting. Many restaurants in Baguio serve this hearty dish.

For a sweet treat, try the Ube Halaya, a rich and creamy purple yam jam. While available elsewhere, Baguio's version is often praised for its authentic flavor and smooth texture. It’s a popular pasalubong (souvenir) item and a delightful dessert. Look for it in local markets and specialty food stores.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Baguio City

Baguio City is known for its friendly and respectful locals. When interacting, a polite greeting and a smile go a long way. Tipping is not mandatory but is appreciated for good service. Be mindful of the environment; Baguio is a beautiful city, and keeping it clean is a shared responsibility. Respect local customs and traditions, especially when visiting religious sites.

For safety, Baguio is generally a safe city for tourists. However, like any urban area, it's wise to be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded places. Keep your valuables secure and avoid walking alone in poorly lit areas late at night. It’s advisable to use reputable taxi services or ride-sharing apps. In case of emergencies, the local police hotline is 911.

Essential apps for your trip include ride-hailing apps like Grab for convenient transportation, Google Maps for navigation, and weather apps to stay updated on Baguio's famously changeable climate. Having a reliable communication app like WhatsApp or Messenger is also useful for staying in touch.

Familiarize yourself with basic Filipino phrases, though English is widely spoken and understood in Baguio. Learning a few words like "Salamat" (Thank you) and "Magandang umaga/hapon/gabi" (Good morning/afternoon/evening) can enhance your interactions with locals and show your appreciation for their culture.

The location of the hotel is spot on with its proximity to Burnham Park, popular restaurants, the markets and other must dos in Baguio. The service is good, rooms are cleaned adequtely, breakfast is hot and get the day started off right. The main issue is the hot water. The note in the bathroom mirror says recommends limiting showers to 10-15 minutes in order to have adequate hot water. Most people must ignore this because we had practically no hot water for a full week. It wasn't the end of the world, but would expect more from this type of accommodation. One note. Many of the units in this hotel are private residences that are rented.

The hotel is a bit dated, although excellent service. The staff are first class.. truly excellent. The hotel is in the center of town with everything within a short walking distance. This is a big plus with the traffic, one way streets and limited parking available. We will be staying there again.

I was on holiday and rode in on my bike, I was a couple hours early and was told that i would not be able to check in before 2 pm. When I was able to check in it was rather painless, and the person at the front desk helped me with my stuff to our room. When I got the to the room it was clean but rather hot due to the AC not being powered on prior entering the room. It took over 2 hours to get the room at a comfortable temp. The bed was older and also very hard to sleep on. They say that they offer WiFi in all rooms but that is not the case. There was no info for what the information on how to attach to the WiFi so I called the front desk and asked for the info. The front desk gave me the info and then terminated the call. I had to call back down to the front desk and let them know that it would connect to the Local Network but there was no Internet connectivity. the front desk person stated to me that she would have the Eng Dept look into it and call me back. I called back to the front desk many times for the status of the issue and was always told the same thing. never once did I get a call back and through out the entire stay I did not get WiFi. As for the rest of the stay and the room, well the CR was nice and the shower did have both hot and cold water. But due to the lack of caring from the hotel staff, I will not be staying at this hotel ever again. I have received better service from lower priced and lower ended hotels.

We stayed for overnight. The hotel is short walk away from Burnham Park, Baguio Orchidarium, and Children's Park. There is a Tourist Center across the road. Staff was not that courteous. They will not greet you automatically when you meet them at the lobby or at the hallway. Security Guards are very prompt. Everytime I goes out of the parking lot, they immediately assist me in maneuvering and stopping the on going traffic to give way for me. Room was very spacious. I will surely comeback for another stay. Next time will be together with my kids.

Convenient to the park and dining. Ample parking for guests, which is a premium for the area. The free breakfast is served until 10 AM and isn't large, but enough to get one's day started. Do NOT get a room that is facing the church! I was awakened at 6AM every day with a morning prayer over loudspeakers. My friend had a room on the same floor, but around the corner, and he didn't hear the morning prayer. On the bright side, if you want to get up at 6 AM, it is pleasant enough.

Staff not very helpful. Room OK, but a very smallest TV. Only one lift was working, which seemed to be intentional, and it was continually used by the staff. Requested a park view room and was told they were not on the booking. Yet this option was not listed in Expedia.

I liked the view and the room was spacious. The internet was good. I had several issues with the air conditioning and TV. However, I don't regret the choice... Very nice place. I would stay there again.

A very nice hotel with beautiful view of Burnham Park. Easy walking and transportation access to everything. Helpful friendly staff and a good free breakfast was included. Several Filipino celebrities were staying in the hotel while we were there and everyone was very nice. A clean, relaxing and comfortable atmosphere that I can recommend.

The staff were friendly and accommodating. But the facility, even when brand new, was not that great.
