I have no negative feedback at all. I paid a very amazing hotel at a very affordable rate. Room is clean, pool was small but good enough for a quick dip. Location is close to malls, disco and coffee shops. It’s just a 20minutes drive from Mactan airport. Best of all its brand new. Staffs are friendly and helpful.

Your Travel Guide to Cebu City as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Cebu City from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For most Filipino travelers, flying is the most convenient way to reach Cebu City. Major airlines operate frequent flights from Manila (MNL) to Mactan-Cebu International Airport (CEB). Flight durations are typically around 1 hour and 15 minutes, with fares varying based on booking time and airline, but you can often find competitive prices if you book flight tickets in advance. Budget around PHP 2,000 to PHP 5,000 for a round trip, depending on promotions.

If you prefer land and sea travel, buses and ferries are also options, though significantly longer. From Manila, you can take a bus to a ferry terminal and then board a ship bound for Cebu. This journey can take anywhere from 20 to 36 hours, offering a more scenic but time-consuming experience. Bus fares typically range from PHP 1,500 to PHP 3,000 one way, while ferry tickets can vary widely.

From other major Philippine cities like Davao or Cagayan de Oro, flights are also readily available to Mactan-Cebu International Airport. These flights are generally shorter than those from Manila. For those coming from nearby Visayas islands, ferry services are a common and economical choice, connecting you directly to Cebu City's port.

Best Time to Visit Cebu City

Cebu City enjoys a tropical climate, meaning it's generally warm and humid throughout the year. The dry season, from December to May, is often considered the best time to visit for travelers who prefer less rain and more sunshine. During these months, the weather is typically pleasant for outdoor activities and exploring the city's attractions.

The wet season runs from June to November, characterized by higher humidity and a greater chance of rainfall, often in the form of short, intense showers. While this period might see fewer tourists and potentially lower accommodation prices, it's advisable to pack an umbrella and be prepared for occasional disruptions to outdoor plans. Regardless of the season, Cebu City offers a dynamic experience for visitors.

For those looking to experience local festivals, the Sinulog Festival in January is a major highlight, drawing huge crowds. If you plan to visit during this time, booking your accommodation and flights well in advance is highly recommended due to the surge in demand. Otherwise, the shoulder months of December and May can offer a good balance of favorable weather and fewer crowds.

Food and Dining Near Cebu City — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

Cebu is renowned for its culinary scene, and Filipino travelers must try Lechon Cebu. This roasted pig, known for its crispy skin and succulent meat seasoned with a blend of spices, is a celebratory dish that embodies the spirit of Filipino gatherings. You can find excellent Lechon in many restaurants and local eateries throughout Cebu City.

Another must-try is Kinilaw, Cebu's version of ceviche. Fresh raw fish, typically tuna or tanigue, is marinated in vinegar, onions, ginger, and chili peppers. It’s a refreshing and tangy dish that perfectly complements the tropical climate. Look for it in seafood restaurants or local markets for an authentic taste.

For a sweet treat, try the dried mangoes of Cebu. These are a popular pasalubong (souvenir) and a delightful snack. They offer a chewy texture and a concentrated sweet and tangy flavor that many Filipinos adore. You can find these in souvenir shops and supermarkets across the city.

Don't leave Cebu without sampling their version of Halo-Halo. While available nationwide, Cebu's rendition often features unique local ingredients and a generous serving of shaved ice, milk, fruits, beans, and sweet preserves, topped with leche flan and ice cream. It’s the ultimate Filipino dessert to cool you down.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Cebu City

Cebuano culture is a rich blend of indigenous traditions, Spanish colonial influences, and modern Filipino life. Filipinos are generally known for their hospitality, and a smile and polite greeting go a long way. When visiting churches or religious sites, dress modestly out of respect. Learning a few basic Cebuano phrases like "Salamat" (Thank you) can also be appreciated.

When it comes to safety, Cebu City is generally safe for tourists, but it's always wise to be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded areas. Avoid displaying expensive items openly and be cautious of petty theft. It's advisable to use reputable taxi services or ride-sharing apps for transportation. Keep your valuables secure and be mindful of your belongings.

For essential communication and navigation, having a reliable smartphone is key. Consider downloading apps like Google Maps for navigation, Grab for ride-hailing and food delivery, and a local weather app to stay updated on conditions. Having a local SIM card can also be beneficial for staying connected. In case of emergencies, know the local emergency numbers.

Familiarize yourself with the local currency, the Philippine Peso (PHP). While credit cards are accepted in larger establishments, carrying some cash is essential for smaller shops, local markets, and transportation. ATMs are widely available throughout the city for cash withdrawals.

Thrre is no bath towel available becusse it wasnt washed yet as per front desk. Really? Seriously? Nobody thought that the hotel is running out of towel? The room wasnt cleaned well, still alot of hairs on the bathroom floor and the bath mat provided looks exactly the same as soiled rag. Front desk was too passive when we reported the issue and no apologies were given. Worst !!! Never again..... NEVER! Even if its free, NEVER!

Not having been to Cebu before and looking for those dynamite deals, is how I stumbled across this property. Though the free breakfast is sometimes extremely limited in choice, it was still good in taste. The room was pleasingly large, furnished with a nice desk, wall mounted TV, couch and a very comfortable bed.... perfect for entertaining guests. The balcony was fun and the rooftop pool was a great final touch.

Cityscape Hotel I stayed 2 night and 3 days. It's very good overall, comfortable accomodation, kind crew. but 1 negative point. Hotel room doesn't have any soundproofing from outside of window. Every morning, I had to be interrupted from noise, bikes and chicken crying. I think they need some complementary goods for soundproofing.

The night shift guard when we arrived was very unfriendly and unprofessional. Valet parking was offered but no one around to do it. When I left the car at the front to bring our stuff up the reception called immediately just when we arrived in our room and told us that the guard complained about our car...although he saw us going in after check in to bring our luggage to the room. I even confronted him and his only response was 'I didn't know'. There was no appology whatsoever as if I should be the one to apologize. Sorry but that's a no go in this industry.

Improve the cleanliness on the room, comfort room. It has a bad odor and the aircon was wet. The room was good, spaceous, comfortable beddingd but needs improvement on how the room should be maintained. Needs more ground staff, bell boys.

Check in was fast and efficient. The room was very large with 2 big windows and a balcony with city and mountain views. There was a fridge, water kettle and coffee and tea inside the room. The bed was comfortable with a nice comforter. There are many trendy places to eat nearby. Checkout was fast.

The Hotel room was full of cockaroaches! I killed over 30 during my stay of 5 days! When I complained they did nothing. Every day more came out! I bought my own can of spray!

location is not so convenient for tourists. almost nothing nearby except for few local stores. it’s off main road or any major attractions. Water discharge is choked in shower despite actions taken by their maintenance.

It was an affordable choice for me. Not much amenities so buy your toothbrush and toothpaste, but if you just need a safe and comfortable place to stay in, its a good choice
