Excellent location right up from the rose garden in Burnham Park. Taxis and Jeepneys just out the front door. Located in the middle of a bunch of cafes and restaurants. Night market is a few minutes walk away. If you want easy access to central Baguio, this is a good place. FYI, hotel is up the elevator next to Watsons on the third floor. There's only a small sign for the hotel at the road, so look for Watsons and you're there.

Your Travel Guide to Baguio City as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Baguio City from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

Traveling to Baguio City from Manila is most commonly done by bus. Several bus companies operate routes from various terminals in Metro Manila, including Cubao and Pasay. The journey typically takes between 5 to 7 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions, with fares ranging from PHP 700 to PHP 1,000 for regular or executive seats. Booking your book flight to Clark International Airport (CRK) and then taking a bus or van to Baguio is another option, offering a potentially faster travel time to the region.

For travelers coming from other major Philippine cities like Cebu or Davao, flying into Clark International Airport (CRK) is often the most efficient route. From CRK, you can find direct bus or van services to Baguio City. Alternatively, you can fly into Manila's Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL) and then proceed with a bus journey to Baguio. The total travel time will vary significantly based on your origin city and chosen mode of transport.

Driving to Baguio City is also a popular option for those who prefer the flexibility of their own vehicle. From Manila, you can take the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and then the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) towards Tarlac, eventually connecting to the Jose Abad Santos Avenue and then the MacArthur Highway leading to Baguio. Toll fees can add up, so it's wise to budget for these costs.

Best Time to Visit Baguio City

The ideal time to visit Baguio City for most Filipino travelers is during the dry season, which typically runs from November to May. During these months, the weather is cooler and less prone to rain, making it perfect for exploring the city's outdoor attractions and enjoying its scenic beauty. The months of December to February are particularly popular due to the Christmas season and the cooler temperatures.

However, if you prefer to avoid the largest crowds and potentially find better rates on accommodation, consider visiting during the shoulder months of November or May. While there's a slightly higher chance of rain, the weather is still generally pleasant, and you can enjoy the city's charm with fewer people around. The cool climate is a constant draw, making Baguio a year-round destination for many.

The rainy season, from June to October, brings heavier rainfall and occasional typhoons. While the city can still be enjoyed during this period, outdoor activities might be limited, and travel can be disrupted. However, for those who don't mind the occasional downpour and enjoy the lush, green scenery that the rain brings, this period can offer a different, more serene experience of Baguio.

Food and Dining Near Baguio City — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

Baguio City is renowned for its unique culinary scene, offering a delightful array of dishes that reflect its cool climate and cultural influences. One must-try is the **Strawberry Taho**, a local twist on the classic Filipino snack, featuring fresh strawberries blended into the silken tofu and sago. You can find vendors selling this refreshing treat, especially near tourist spots.

Another local specialty is **Baguio Longganisa**, a sweet and savory sausage that is a breakfast staple for many visitors. Its distinct flavor profile, often infused with local herbs, makes it a delicious start to your day. Many restaurants and local markets offer this delicacy, perfect for a hearty meal.

Don't leave Baguio without trying **Pinikpikan**, a traditional Cordilleran dish. This unique dish involves a specific preparation method that results in a tender and flavorful meat, often chicken, cooked with local vegetables. Its rich taste and cultural significance make it a culinary adventure for any Filipino traveler.

For those with a sweet tooth, **Ube Jam** and **Strawberry Jam** made from locally sourced ingredients are highly recommended. These jams are perfect as pasalubong (souvenirs) or to enjoy with freshly baked bread. You can find these at local pasalubong centers and souvenir shops throughout the city.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Baguio City

Baguio City is known for its friendly and respectful locals. When interacting, a simple "po" and "opo" (yes, sir/ma'am) goes a long way in showing courtesy. The city has a generally relaxed pace, so taking your time and observing local customs will enhance your experience. Be mindful of public spaces and avoid littering to help preserve the city's beauty.

Safety in Baguio City is generally good, but like any urban area, it's wise to remain aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded places. Keep your valuables secure and avoid displaying expensive items openly. In case of emergencies, the local police hotline is a crucial contact. It's also recommended to have the contact numbers for your hotel and local emergency services readily available.

For seamless navigation and information, several apps can be very useful. Ride-sharing apps like Grab are available for convenient transportation. Weather apps are essential for keeping track of Baguio's famously unpredictable weather. Local tourism apps or websites can provide up-to-date information on events, attractions, and dining options, helping you plan your itinerary effectively.

Familiarizing yourself with basic Filipino phrases can also be helpful, although English is widely spoken and understood in Baguio. Understanding local etiquette, such as respecting elders and being mindful of noise levels in residential areas, will ensure a harmonious stay. Embrace the laid-back atmosphere and enjoy the unique charm of the Summer Capital.

There is no towel to wipe the sink and no towel for the floor in the bathroom. Shampoo is in a sachet pack. The location is good though, very close to Burnham park.

I saw couple roaches in my room and a dead one on the hallway. I have stayed in hotels in Baguio and this is the first that I saw roaches..

Towels has holes in them. Although its clean, manangement should not use towels that are worn out.

The pictures are kinda of misleading. I booked two rooms and both were like staying in a cave without air ventilations. We didn’t stay the whole night and left 6 hours later.

Elevator was out and no one offered to help with bags going up 3 flights of stairs. I was with wife and Mother in Law. Window shown in Expedia was not a window, it was bricked up. No Air con and no window makes for warm stuffy room even in Baguio.

Here is what you’re paying for, Terrible soundproofing, non-courteous staff yapping loudly in the hallway early in the morning at 7 waking up people that are staying at the hotel. Dusty room all around, dirty shower, half-working shower head, barely any shampoo and soap, no AC.

Location is very convenient. CONS: No aircon on the room, just ceiling fan connected to a light so you have to sleep with the lights ON if you want to use the fan. No Vault and Towels were worn out 😅

Situated in the heart of Burnham Park perfect location for travelers like me who prefer to take public transportations. So close to restaurants and shops. Definitely a place to stay for budget friendly folks.

The property has the appearance of an old run down building. The service was terrible that it does not offer late check out. Parking is very limited and very steep for small or low height cars.
