Everything was great! Staff incredible!

This is a great conference hotel that is conveniently close to the airport. Your choices for activities and fast food outside the hotel are very limited, and the area around the hotel is extremely quiet after sunset. The breakfast buffet is great. The indoor pool requires a shower cap to use. The hotel staff was very welcoming and allowed me to check in very early in the morning for the following night because I arrived on an early flight and they had available space.

Came on our honeymoon and did not have the experience you would expect from a 4-star hotel with the ratings we read. After moving rooms 3 times due to cleanliness issues (ripped towels, chlorine smells, dirt/debris) we were finally moved into a suite (which was nice, but of course after hours of back and fourth we were anxious and unhappy already). The staff were okay, except for one lady who upgraded us and made a great attempt to make things right. She gave us a bottle of champagne and some snacks to celebrate along with the upgraded room. Although these upgrades and additions were nice, the stress and anxiety caused on our honeymoon right when we landed caused by this hotel really put a damper on the beginning of our trip. Breakfast buffet was the best on the island as far as hotels we stayed at. 5-stars to that! The amenities (pool, hot tub etc.) were by the THE WORST. The pool smelled and we never went in once. Really dirty. Overall would not come back and would not recommend staying here.

Good swimming pool

We had a nice big room, but air conditioning was not working properly or at all. because we were on the first floor we were not able to open windows. We called the front desk 2 times. We had options to move but it was too late in the evening and we were tired, and ended up staying in the room.

Spa was nice, but not hot enough.

Very nice hotel even a bit dated outside but it’s beautiful interior! Friendly staffs and informative , me and my wife are really happy to stay in Azoris Royal Garden Hotel.

I had a 15-hour layover in Ponta Delgado, and decided to book this hotel to rest before taking off the same day. I had booked for one day from my arrival at 6 a.m. until the next day. But my check-out had to be at 7 p.m. on the same day I would check in. Basically, I would use the room for a few hours. Upon my arrival, the young guy at the reception was not accommodating at all. He said that the check-in was at 2 p.m., meaning I had to wait almost 6 hours to check in to then check out at 7 p.m. I was disappointed since it seemed to me that he didn't care at all. Then I asked if I could have breakfast that was included. He said that it was their protocol that the guest must sleep over night in order to have the breakfast included. I didn't really understand his reason, since I was leaving the same day anyway without being able to have breakfast the next day. I decided to wait until he was gone. It was a good decision. When the crew changed, there was an incredible lady who helped me to have breakfast, and she managed to check me in much earlier. This is service that you would expect from the hospitality industry. She was great and went beyond what she might have needed to. A big thanks to her. I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Nice room and facilities, and great breakfast. The dinner buffet was ok, but only because the options were not necessarily my taste. I could see that other guests were enjoying their meals. I would definitely consider going back to this place.

Stayed 3 nights. Facilities were clean and located conveniently. Breakfast was very good and much appreciated.

We liked everything about it! The outdoor pool was fantastic- so peaceful. Staff was great, especially Erica, who went above and beyond to try and connect me with a tour guide for a special request. Joao was great to talk to while we were waiting for our taxi. We will be back!

After travelling all over Europe this is one of properties I unfortunately have to leave a negative review. Let’s start with the positives - it’s in a good quiet location in Ponta Delgada close to the airport. It had ample free parking in the garage. The pool area is nice and the breakfast is sufficient. Unfortunately that’s where it ends. The staff were pleasant (there were a few that we not) but they failed to resolve an ongoing issue that I reported several (5 ) times during our stay. The showers and water in the room would not stay a consistent temperature. It continuously fluctuated between freezing cold and scalding hot. Every time we reported the issue and then checked back they said it was fixed, but every time it was not. This went on for 4 days. In addition the hotel itself is in need of major updating. Some areas (the breakfast area and pool) were nice, but other areas were very old and run down. Overall I would not recommend this hotel - there are others in the same vicinity that would probably provide a more comfortable stay.

Perfect location, Close to the airport and walkable to the Ocean strip with lots of dining options close by. Very comfy bed, nice pool area and the breakfast had lots of choices and was very good.

The cleanliness

Wonderful hotel with a beautiful garden, pool, and 3 restaurants. The staff was attentive and courteous, making the stay even nicer.

I loved my experience at this hotel. The on-site parking was spacious and easy. The staff were wonderful, and the rooms were clean and comfortable.

The hotel was conveniently located near shops such as Parque Atlantico Mall and about a 20 minute walk to the shopping boutiques and cafes although a bit far from many restaurants. The popular restaurant O Galego known for their steak is a must-go but it is about a 20 minute car ride. The cool thing is, this hotel is located near the botanical garden with a delicious brunch cafe in the park, which is amazing. The bathroom and floors were not the cleanest and the staff was not friendly at all. At check-in the girl didn't say hi after we did and barely answered our questions. My mom called for room service and they told us no, that we had to go down ourselves, it was only 7pm and all we needed was water. Not a big deal, we did it ourselves. At breakfast the next day, I needed a spoon for my yogurt, so I asked one of the servers and all he did was point to the counter. I thought maybe just a language barrier. My mom on a separate occasion needed a coffee mug because there weren't any on our table, when she asked the server she said "check your table" and rolled her eyes. It was wild. The attitude was consistent throughout. We stayed on the 6th floor and let me tell you, those hallways are creepy. The hotel hallways lights turn off behind you when you're walking to and back to your room. I would definitely choose another hotel in Ponta Delgada.

Pros: The hotel was in a great part of town and very accessible by car. The staff was delightful and the morning breakfast was terrific. Con: The entire property is quite dated and the hallways are stifling hot with a ceiling that looks like it is ready for imminent collapse. It is on the approach to the airport and the overhead planes can be quite loud. All in all a nice stay but I was expecting a more upscale experience.

No early check-in. Upgrade to vast Suite not really needed for our one-day stay. Intense green flashing light in bedroom for all of night.We were too tired to call reception. Outside pool cold.Jacuzzi next to inside pool tepid but nice. Non-working sauna. Staff tries very hard to please. Hotel is convenient to airport and waterfront, and has covered parking.
