Can’t fault the staff. They were lovely and went out of their way however: No hot water in the morning Blocked drains TV didn’t work No sanitary bin Stains on the ceiling Uncomfortable bed Thin walls Incredibly noisy but ineffective flush This could just be bad luck and I give the benefit of the doubt here. As I say, staff were super helpful and I’m sure with some investment and effort it could be great.

Breakfast Continental. Staff were hardly ever there but polite when found them. Room mouldy/stained in ceiling & wardrobe. Rained so water came through bedroom ceiling all night, as no other room avaliable. Moved us next night.

Turned up to find our key out on a table, with our name and details where to find the room Everyone else who was staying also had their keys laid out with names/room details. No-one available to speak to, in-person, at check-in. We were in the family room, at the back/outside of the property. Whole room smelt of grease due to the chip shop adjoining the hotel. To be fair, the hotel itselt smelt greasy. Toilets were filthy with broken seats, one of the shower trays filthy and not clean. The other shower tray had used bottles of body wash still in the shower and a pair of old socks left there, too. No hand soap, no tea/coffee sachets. Beds were hard, but may suit those who do not mind a hard matress. No matress topper used, though or protectors- just sheets- and could feel springs through matress. Phoned the number left on a table at "arrival" and advised of issues in room Offered another room, but explained booked family room to accommodate all persons travelling. Was told manager would be told of issues. Come breakfast time, saw one member of staff who was pleasant enough. The layout for breakfast isn't amazing- but was enough to keep my children quiet. We ended up going to Talgarth Mill for breakfast, in the cafe there- would recommend there, or The Strand Cafe for food. For what we paid, was not expecting it to be posh. As a family, we are fairly laid back and not overly fussy. However, this was at the lower end of what we would normally go for/expect .

The property fell far short of what could reasonably be described as a hotel, more like rooms situated above an empty pub. On arrival, I was shown a basic breakfast room and told to operate the tea urn myself if i was to come down before 8am; only cereals were available. Access to the rooms was via a staircase with filthy, heavily stained carpet, and it appeared that only myself & my colleague were residents. My room had a damp smell, a double bed, and minimal furnishings. The en-suite area was horrendous: although the toilet was clean, there was no soap provided, just a couple of tubes of combined hair/body wash. The shower was lined with black mould, and the sink contained multiple hairs. Back in the bedroom, the carpet had clearly not been vacuumed and was littered with crumbs and various stains. A shelf was marked with numerous cup rings, and the single mug provided was stained. Nothing felt clean enough to use. The bar was completely empty, so we chose to dine at a nearby Nepalese restaurant instead. Later, I attempted to watch TV in the room, only to find that no channels were available. Unable to relax and concerned about possible bites, I remained fully clothed on the bed until morning—waking physically fine but mentally exhausted. We left the property at 07:45 without encountering any staff and went elsewhere for breakfast. My firm recommendation is to avoid this establishment entirely, and not to confuse it with the similary named Castle of Brecon Hotel!
