Ho Chi Minh City, also known as Saigon, is Vietnam's largest city. The Central Post Office is a prominent site in the country's commercial hub. Built in the 19th century during the French colonial period, it is a favorite photo stop for tourists. Meanwhile, Ben Thanh Market also offers various souvenirs for everyone.
Vietnam has plenty of delicious dishes that will steal your heart. One of the typical foods of Vietnam is goi cuon (spring rolls). Vietnamese spring rolls are well-known because of their freshness, taste and flavors. You must try pho, a rice noodle soup dish of broth, meat and spices. Another typical food of Vietnam that you can’t miss is banh mi, a Vietnamese sandwich. The bread is like a baguette. The last for the best is xoi, a sticky rice dish with all sorts of toppings, such as fried chicken and eggs.
Vietnam Airlines offers flights from different cities and countries, such as Bangkok, Singapore, Jakarta and Seoul, with varying fares. Malaysia Airlines and Air Asia also offer routes to several cities in Vietnam, some of which require a stopover in Kuala Lumpur first.
Vietnam’s currency is Dong. The rates are affordable, for which US$1 equals approximately 24,000 VND.
