10 activities you probably didn't know you could experience at KL Tower

KL Tower is one of Kuala Lumpur’s most iconic sights after the Petronas Twin Towers, standing proudly in the city’s skyline.

But beyond the fact that it’s pretty tall – 421 meters, to be specific – not many Malaysians, particularly KLites, are aware of all the cool things you can do there. (I only discovered it myself when several friends from overseas told me.)

So whether you’ve got friends from foreign lands visiting or you simply want to be a tourist for a day, KL Tower should be on your bucket list – you can easily spend an entire day here!

Observation Deck

The indoor Observation Deck offers a panoramic vista of Kuala Lumpur that is second to none. Open from 9.00am to 10.00pm every day throughout the entire year, you can even zoom in and get a closer view through the binoculars stationed around the deck.

Want an even better bird’s eye view? Check out the open-air Sky Deck, the highest vantage point at KL Tower.

Sky Box

If you’re feeling even more adventurous, step into the Sky Box, where you can get the best Instagram-worthy photos of the cityscape. Inspired by Eureka Skydeck 88 in Melbourne, you’re completely surrounded by glass panels that extend from the Sky Deck, with nothing below you but several inches of glass and steel.

The Sky Box can accommodate up to six people at a time. We hope you’re not afraid of heights, or you may get vertigo!

No need to go all the way to Hawkins, Indiana to visit the Upside Down – just head over to the Upside Down House at the entrance to KL Tower. (Albeit it's a far less scary version.)

You’ll feel like Alice in Wonderland as you wander through the charming two-storey English cottage that’s been set completely upside-down, furniture and all.Open from 9.00am to 7.00pm daily, visitors will have fun posing and taking photos in all sorts of whimsical scenes.

KL Forest Eco Park

If you need a break from the city’s concrete pavements and skyscrapers and long for a bit of nature, you won’t even need to look outside the city – Kuala Lumpur actually has its own forest reserve right at the base of KL Tower.

The Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve is the oldest gazetted forest reserve in the country, and is home to a Jelutong Tree that dates back to nearly a century ago.

Covering an area of approximately 9.3 hectares, the tropical rainforest is a welcome refuge from the city. I’d definitely recommend the Canopy Walk, which takes you up to 200 meters above ground and spans from one end of the park to the other.

Choose your adventure at XD Theater, where you have your pick of several 6D simulation rides. You’ll want to hold on to your seat as you’re taken through an exciting interactive experience, complete with lighting and wind effects.
