Beppu Hatto Onsen Matsuri (1 April- 7 April):

In case you have more time other than watching the cherry blossoms in Japan, maybe you should move to Beppu and experience the day when most of the hot springs in the city will be open to the public for free! This festival will be held on every 1st of April and up to a week.

Nagahama Hikiyama Festival (9 - 17 April):

Watch the Children’s Kabuki theater played by all boys aged 5 to 12! Even though you have to go to Shiga Prefecture to witness this festival (where there are also some cherry blossom spots in Shiga), the kabuki performance is worth watching. It will be available on 9 - 17 April 2024.

Miyako Odori (1 April - 30 April)

One of the major spring shows held in the five geisha districts or also known as hanamachi in Kyoto. It is an annual event that has been held since a long time ago by showcasing the grace and artistry of Geiko and Maiko. The event is usually held for a whole month in April and features four performances showcasing various traditional japanese dances and theatrical presentations.

Takayama Spring Festival (14 April - 15 April)

A festival dedicated to the Shinto God of War and serves as a prayer for good health and massive harvest. The main attractions which become the highlight would absolutely be the elaborately decorated floats called “Yatai”. On the first day, people would hold the festival at Hue Shrine, bringing a smaller Yatai. On the second day, they would hold the festival at Sannou Shrine, and finally do the main parade with a larger and more elaborate Yatai. The parade itself involves a massive number of crowds with traditional music performances which makes that festive atmosphere.
