Bandar Baru Bangi may not sound like a fancy staycation choice at first. After all, it is more known as a university town, otherwise sleepy and seemingly uninteresting. But, a weekend at the five-star Bangi Resort Hotel might just change your mind.
This picturesque five-star resort is located on Bandar Baru Bangi’s highest point, surrounded by lush tropical green that offers a serene environment, and hence, perfect for a quick relaxation weekend with the family!
This hotel has been around for more than two decades, but it recently went through a facelift and a modern twist. Our Grand Deluxe room oozes practical minimalism — the king-sized bed takes center stage, complemented with a turquoise chaise lounge to laze on. The 36-square meter room is spacious enough for a family with kids!
The room is designed with guests’ comfort in mind. A work desk is provided if you need to meet some deadlines (we hope not!) with a table lamp and several USB ports to charge your phone. The luggage shelf next to it could fit two pieces of luggage, which is perfect when you’re traveling with a partner (or just an overpacker, we won’t judge!).
Each of the 256 rooms is equipped with tea-making facilities, a mini fridge, high speed WiFi, a flat-screen TV with local and international channels, as well as a bathroom that has a bathtub and a separate shower cubicle. We particularly loved the rain shower! Choose a room that either has views of the swimming pool, garden or magnificent views of the golf course.
While the room may entice you to stay indoors all day long, a stroll in the hotel’s compound may just be what you need to unwind. We’d suggest starting your walk in the garden where you may admire the Koiin the pond and listen to the relaxing sound of water pouring out of a fountain. Want to keep up with your workout routine while you’re here? Jog around the golf course, surrounded by picturesque ponds and lush greenery!
Need to cool off in the Malaysian heat? Take a dip in the swimming pool, partially shaded by tall, coconut trees to provide you some shelter from the hot afternoon sun. The occasional breeze that makes the trees sway gently calms you even more.
Feeling hungry and don’t feel like leaving the resort? Don’t worry, the hotel has a range of quality yet affordable dining options. Choose from local and international buffet at Funtasia, fusion Chinese cuisine at Harmoni or contemporary Japanese fare. The hotel also has its own farm where every morning, the chef would harvest the day’s vegetables. That's not all, the hotel is also the first one that has a robot barista called Robbie that serves you soft serve ice cream as well as coffee-based drinks!
For a refreshing city staycation, check out Bangi Resort Hotel!
Our verdict: The hotel is perfect if you’re looking for a quick weekend staycation away from the hustle and bustle of the city!
