What’s KL without a trip to Bukit Bintang? If it’s a relaxing stay in town you’re looking for, consider a check-in to Pavilion Hotel Kuala Lumpur. The hotel stands 13 floors above Pavilion shopping centre and is a stone’s throw away from KL’s biggest shopping hot spots and attractions, from the foodie haven that is Jalan Alor to the nightlife scene down over at Changkat. Newly-opened last December, this is the place to be if you want to tick off all of KL ‘Must Do’s in one weekend and maybe even enjoy some spa time on the side.

Managed by international household name Banyan Tree, this hotel promises its guests an idyllic escape right in the heart of the city. Read on below to know how we made the best of our stay.

A room with a view

The first thing you’ll notice upon entering the room would be how airy it is, the way sunlight streams through the windows all around. This set the tone of our stay just right, especially with the warm welcome note on the TV screen and bustling city view outside. Before we knew it, we were all settled on the plush, king-sized bed.

Every room comes equipped with a coffee maker, mini bar and a 55-inch flat screen LED TV. The TV comes with screen mirroring features, making it easy to Netflix or Spotify your favorite playlists during your staycation.

All amenities in the bathroom are under the Banyan Tree range, which makes it so inviting to take a fragrant bubble bath or a long hot shower to unwind. We know we definitely did!

We especially loved the walk-in closet in our Grand Oasis room. It’s a comfortable nook of its own with plenty of space to store your items. It even comes with a writing desk, should the need to do a bit of work arise.

The living room space also provides as a nice and roomy place to lounge and call in-room service and just relax over a movie!

Pool or gym? Your pick.

Up on Level 18 is the Sky Gym and Instagram-worthy Rooftop Infinity Pool. Stretch out on the many cushy deckchairs to catch some sun rays or do a few laps. We were told that a snack bar would even be open soon to fulfill all munching needs.

The Sky Gym is open for 24 hours, which makes it easy to catch up on any fitness goals even while on holiday.

If you’re a fan of the signature lemongrass scent that’s present all throughout the hotel, don’t forget to check out the Banyan Tree Gallery on Level 8. The hotel’s dedicated retail outlet offers an array of handicrafts, resort apparels and signature spa amenities. It’s also where you can purchase those cute bathrobes and slippers found in the hotel room.

Pavilion Hotel breakfast

The breakfast buffet at the Courtyard Coffee House features an intercontinental spread. We were informed that the pastry chef is French, so we couldn’t miss having a little feast on the baked goods. Fluffy donuts, croissants and blueberry pastries went deliciously well with our hot coffees.

Of course, what’s a stay in a hotel managed by the Banyan Tree without a spa visit? As part of the hotel’s opening promo, you will get 30% off all full-body massages till January 31 2019.

Eat like a local

Jalan Alor food

Find authenticity minus the frills and expensive bills at Jalan Alor, a must for tourists and locals alike. Parallel to Jalan Bukit Bintang, Jalan Alor is today best known for its unpretentious street food. We gotta admit that there’s some pretty decent seafood here. But if you’re not feeling seafood, be spoiled for choice with other dishes like all the noodles you’ll ever desire (seriously… pan mee, curry mee, fish head noodles – you name it!). Be sure to put your stretchy pants on before coming because you’re in for a gastronomic treat.
