Getting There

Before your road trip begins, you’ll need to get to Tasmania. There are several flight options available. If you're flying from Singapore to Hobart, expect a flight time of around 11-13 hours with a layover in Melbourne or Sydney. From Manila, the journey takes about 14-16 hours, also with a layover. If you're coming from the Gold Coast, direct flights are available, and the trip takes approximately 2.5 hours.

Exploring Hobart

Upon landing in Hobart, the capital of Tasmania, you'll be greeted by a charming blend of historic architecture and modern vibrancy. If you have an early flight, then make the most of the rest of the day in Hobart. Start your adventure with a visit to Salamanca Place, where you can explore the bustling market if you’re there on a Saturday. Stroll through the Battery Point district, where the quaint cottages and narrow streets tell tales of the city’s colonial past. There is a lot do to here, and you’ll have time on the way back to explore too, but highlights include:

MONA – Museum of Old and New Art: A must-visit for art enthusiasts, MONA offers an eclectic mix of contemporary and modern art in a stunning architectural setting.
Salamanca Market: This vibrant market is held every Saturday, featuring local produce, crafts, and food stalls, providing a great introduction to Tasmania's local culture.
Mount Wellington: Drive or hike up to the summit for panoramic views of Hobart and the surrounding area. The lookout point is especially stunning at sunrise or sunset.
Fantastic restaurants and bars: Hobart has a burgeoning food scene with a variety of restaurants and bars offering local Tasmanian produce and beverages.
Farmers Market: Explore local flavors and fresh produce.

In the evening, make your way to Mount Wellington. The summit offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city and its surroundings, perfect for an awe-inspiring sunset.

Day 2: Hobart and Port Arthur

The next day, get up early and head out of the city down the Tasman Peninsula to Port Arthur Historic Site. This is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a fascinating place to learn about the early British settlers and prisoners in Tasmania. On the way, there are plenty of great places to stop including:

The Tessellated Pavement: A unique geological formation that looks like a tiled pavement, located at Eaglehawk Neck.
Port Arthur Lavender Farm: A serene spot to enjoy the fragrance of lavender fields and try lavender-infused products.
Richmond: A historic village with a convict-built bridge and charming Georgian architecture, perfect for a leisurely stroll and lunch.

You can either spend the night in Port Arthur or make your way back to Hobart for the night (this way you don’t have to change hotels).

Day 3: Hobart to Coles Bay

A longer drive today to get to Coles Bay, the gateway to Freycinet National Park. Stop at Orford to admire the beautiful coastal scenery. If you have lots of time, you can take the 30-minute ferry over to Maria Island, a great place to spot wildlife including wombats and Tasmanian devils. Other notable stops include:
