South Bund Soft Spinning Material Market

South Bund Soft Spinning Material Market

If you’re looking to shop in Shanghai, the South Bund Soft Spinning Material Market is a must-visit for anyone who loves fabrics. It's a fantastic place for both professional designers and casual shoppers to find beautiful materials at great prices. It's mostly known for soft spinning materials, but you can find everything from silks to cottons, wools, and velvets. I found everything I needed to make custom clothes, and the quality of the materials is amazing!

Address: 399 Lujiabang Road, Huangpu District, Shanghai, China

Opening Hours: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Monday through Saturday. It’s closed on Sundays, so plan accordingly.

How to get there:

By Taxi: It’s just a 15-20 minute ride.
By Metro: Take Line 8, get off at Lujiabang Road Station, and walk 5 minutes to the market.

For the first timer, you will expect a big market where you can see many things. Don't be afraid to haggle for a better price, especially if you’re buying a lot. You can also find sewing essentials like buttons and zippers here. Lastly, don't forget to wear comfy shoes, as you will walk along the way.

Shanghai IFC Mall

Shanghai IFC Mall

When I think about shopping in Shanghai, the Shanghai IFC Mall always comes to mind as one of the top places to visit. This mall is more than just a shopping mall; it’s an entire experience. The atmosphere is elegant, with polished marble floors, high ceilings, and beautiful lighting that creates an inviting and luxurious ambience. It’s a must-visit destination for anyone looking to experience a modern Shanghai shop scene. One of the things that makes Shanghai IFC Mall stand out is its variety of luxury brands.

Address: 8 Century Avenue, Lujiazui, Pudong New Area, Shanghai, China

Opening hours: 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM daily

How to get there:

By Taxi: A quick 10-15 minute ride will get you to the mall, depending on traffic.
By Metro: You can take Line 2 (the green line) to Lujiazui Station, which is just a short walk from the mall. It’s the most convenient and affordable way to get there.
By Walking: If you’re nearby, you can walk along the Huangpu River and enjoy the beautiful skyline of Shanghai. The walk is around 20-30 minutes.

For the first timer, you need to wear comfortable shoes, as the mall is big. Plan your budget also to avoid overspending. This shopping store also has some restaurants and cafes for a relaxing meal after shopping. Lastly, don't forget to look for seasonal sales because there are often sales and promotions, especially during holiday seasons or special events.

Yuyuan Bazar

yuyuan Bazar

Want to go for authentic shopping in Shanghai? I always recommend Yuyuan Bazaar. It’s a perfect blend of old-world charm and lively local commerce, nestled in the heart of Shanghai’s historic Old City. It’s full of colour, culture, and cool things to buy. It’s right next to Yu Garden, and I was instantly drawn in by the traditional buildings, red lanterns, and the smell of fresh dumplings.

Address: 265 Fangbang Middle Road, Huangpu District, Shanghai, China

This Shanghai store is great for:

Souvenirs like fans, tea sets, and chopsticks.
Handmade items like jade jewelry, silk scarves, and paper crafts.
Local snacks
Tea shops
Cultural stuff

If you’re looking for a traditional Shanghai shop, this is the place. Every Shanghai store here has its own charm. It is open daily, 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM, located on Fuyou Road, Huangpu District, Shanghai.

I go there by taking Metro Line 10 and get off at Yuyuan Garden Station. It was a 5-minute walk. Super easy!

For the first timer, don't forget to bring cash; not all shops accept cards. Also, try asking for a lower price. It’s expected! Avoid peak hours if you want a more relaxed stroll, like in the morning or evening. Don't skip the dumplings; it is a hidden gem! As the spot is busy, please watch your belongings.

Joy City Shopping Mall

Joy City Shopping Mall

Joy City Shopping Mall is known as a modern and lively Shanghai store. I loved the variety here. This isn’t just a typical Shanghai shop mall, it’s a place where fashion, fun, and food all come together.

Address: 166 Xizang North Road, Jing'an District, Shanghai, China

Opening hours: 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM every day

I got here by taking Metro Line 8 and got off at Qufu Road Station in only 15 minutes. The mall is right there when you exit. Super convenient!

If it's your first time, go on a weekday rather than a weekend, as it will be very packed. Start from the top floor; that's where the ferris wheel and food court are, then work your way down. Don't forget to try something local, as I got a great deal on some local skincare and a cute Shanghai store bag from a boutique.

Kerry Parkside Mall

While exploring Pudong, I stopped by Kerry Parkside Mall for a chill day of shopping in Shanghai. It turned out to be one of my favourite spots. It’s a modern, clean mall with a calm vibe. This mall specialises in high-end and lifestyle brands, international groceries, and many more. It felt less chaotic than other malls. It is a great escape from the city buzz. If you’re into quiet, classy Shanghai shops, this is your kind of place.

Address: 1378 Huamu Road, Pudong New Area, Shanghai, China

Opening hours: 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM daily

I took Metro Line 2 straight to Huamu Road Station to get there from People's Square. The mall is connected directly to the station, so I didn’t even have to step outside!

If it's your first time, you can enjoy your time to explore each Shanghai store without rushing. This place is also perfect for unique snacks and gifts. It is a great place to get a massage or facial while shopping. Go on a weekday for a peaceful stroll!

New World City Plaza

New World City Plaza

On another day in Shanghai, I spent a day at New World City Plaza, and honestly, I’m glad I did. It has everything I love: fashion, food, and fun. There are lots of Korean and Chinese beauty stores. I picked up some face masks and lip tints I’ve never seen back home.

Address: 2-68 Nanjing West Road, Huangpu District, Shanghai, China

Opening hours: 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM, daily

Getting there is super easy, I was already around People’s Square, and I just walked over—it took less than 5 minutes. You can also take the Metro Line 1, 2, or 8 to People’s Square Station, and it’s right there.

If it's your first time, you can start from the basement food court as it has lots of choices and is cheaper than the upper floors. You can also try local brands, as some of the best things I bought were from smaller Shanghai shops.

Shanghai New World Daimaru

Shanghai New World Daimaru

During my time exploring shopping in Shanghai, I couldn’t miss the chance to visit Shanghai New World Daimaru. It’s one of the most stylish malls I’ve ever been to. Walking into Daimaru felt like stepping into a five-star fashion world. Everything is clean, elegant, and well-organised. If you're looking for a high-end Shanghai store, this is the place you'll be looking for, as it offers:

Luxury fashion
Beauty and skincare
Lifestyle items
Food court

Address: 228 Nanjing East Road, Huangpu District, Shanghai, China

Opening hours: 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM daily

To get to Daimariu, its location is right above People’s Square Station (Lines 1, 2, and 8). I got off at the station, walked a few steps, and entered the mall directly. It’s honestly one of the most convenient Shanghai shop spots I’ve been to.

As a first-timer, I can give you some tips on wearing a dress comfortably, and there's no need to rush yourself, as this mall is best enjoyed slowly. Also, try the basement food zone; it’s elegant but reasonably priced.
