Sorry to burst your bubble, but there are no halal-certified restaurants inside Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. But, don’t worry, there are a few Muslim-friendly spots that you can visit to rest your feet and fill up your tummy!
Psst... Do note that the following eateries may serve pork and alcohol on their menu. We recommend that you dine at your own discretion.
Unfortunately, halal food is still a rarity in Japan, but fret not, you can still find Muslim-friendly restaurants. There are a few options at Tokyo Disneyland so you won’t go hungry after all those fun rides! Check out our list below.
Good news to Muslim travelers heading to Tokyo Disneyland! Red Lobster, located in Tokyo Disney Resort has started to include some Muslim-friendly dishes in their menu with ingredients sourced from halal-certified suppliers. Although the food is prepared in the same kitchen as non-halal meals, the restaurant uses separate kitchenware to prepare the meals. Do note that the dining utensils are the same as non-halal meals, but you can bring your own (save the environment!) or request for disposable utensils. The three halal dishes offered are beef bowl, butter chicken curry and vegetable penne.
Do note that as the restaurant is located outside the park, you’ll need to make sure you have the re-entry stamp so you’ll be able to go back into the park after dining.
Located in the World Bazaar section, Eastside Cafe serves a myriad of pasta which includes a wide vegetarian selection. Some of the pasta that is perfect for Muslim travelers include spaghetti Genovese (pesto-based pasta), spaghettini with vegetable tomato sauce and minestrone soup (vegetable stew). We recommend the pasta set which comes with an appetizer, main dish, soft drink and bread. It’ll surely sustain you the whole day!
Head over to Captain Hook’s Galley at Fantasyland for some good ol’ pizza. Order from a selection of pescetarian-friendly pizzas such as eggplant, mountain yam or seafood pizza. Feeling snacky? Enjoy the salad-in-a-cup or baked cheese potato. See? You don’t have to be hungry in the Happy Land!
Another place to get your pizza fix is at Pizza Port, located near Tomorrowland. Choices for Muslim travelers are quite limited here (only seafood cream calzone and salad cup), so only head over here if you’re really hungry and away from the other three options!
Live your best life and try out the various popcorn flavors at Tokyo Disneyland. Just follow your nose and you’ll find the popcorn stalls around the theme park. Do make sure to check the ingredients used as the flavors may change from time to time. To be on the safe side, go for Muslim-friendly flavors like salt or honey-flavored popcorn.
Suitable for both kids and adults, Tokyo DisneySea is the place where everyone can have a fun time! After spending the whole day at the theme park, your tummy might start to rumble and the kids might start throwing tantrums. Similar to Tokyo Disneyland, there are no halal-certified restaurants at Tokyo DisneySea, but you’ll still have seafood and vegetarian options. Check out where you can dine at Tokyo DisneySea down below.
Sebastian’s Calypso Kitchen at Mermaid Lagoon (duh) serves seafood pizzas that are perfect if you’re hungry and looking for something fast yet filling. At Sebastian’s, you can find seafood cream calzone, seafood pizza as well as French fries and fried shrimp balls.
If you want a proper lunch, Cafe Portofino at Mediterranean Harbor is perfect for you. They have delicious items on their menu such as vegetable and seafood soup, Pomodoro with shrimp linguine, seafood gratin bread, salad and minestrone soup. So, just sit down and relax.
Located at the aptly named American Waterfront, the New York Deli serves delicious sandwiches. Try the panini with egg and tuna, or the smoked salmon and shrimp bagel. Psst… our sources told us that the French fries are fried in vegetable oil in a fryer that’s solely used for fries only, so that’s safe to consume as well!
Yes, yes… we know that seafood and vegetarian options might be limiting and some of you would still need your daily intake of meat. Good news, there are a few halal bento delivery services that you can use to bring packed meals into the parks. And yes, we’ve checked — you can bring your own food in! Order your halal bento from either Malaychan, WaO-Bento Kajiya or Kappou Yama. Full tummy, happy you!
