If you’ve traveled the world, you’ll understand how important it is to always keep your cash flow healthy. As long as you spend your money wisely, it’s not impossible to do that.

But money management alone is not enough if you wish to travel longer. How long can you travel? Well, that depends on you. If you decide that you’re going to get a one-way ticket and continuously be on the road (and come back whenever you feel like), making money while traveling will help you stay afloat. Here are 5 ways to do it.

1. Work online

Most travelers work online to help them maintain their travel lifestyle. Most of the ones I know are among high-skilled individuals. But did you know you can also work online with no special skills required? Yes, anyone can do it!

While jobs like writing, designing and programming require you to have certain specific skills, jobs like customer service, typing and data entry don’t. In fact, there are many jobs out there that require zero experience or skills.

You can find job opportunities like these on Upwork, Fiver and many more. The downside of these sites is freelancers tend to get ripped off by demanding and inconsiderate clients. So choose your clients and projects wisely.

2. Do what you’re good at

Do you have a hidden talent even your family didn’t know about? Now might be the best time for you to showcase it (and make money!).

Whether you know how to juggle, sing, dance or shove a burning sword down your throat, there will always be people who will appreciate your art. You’ll be surprised how much cash you can potentially earn from flaunting your moves. If you’re into street performance, busking will best suit you. You can even join a circus or any kind of international traveling show around.

If you prefer to work from your computer, again, online work is the way to go. Turn your skills into cash! You can do some of the things I am already doing too such as teaching English, singing, dancing, music, graphic design, copywriting, voice-over, blogging and social media management. All of these can be done over the Internet!

3. Take seasonal work

As I had mentioned on Travel Guide: 7 Ways to Save Money While Traveling, you can make money through part-time jobs. You can pick fruits, vegetables or flowers, or work in a farm if you don’t mind having dirt on your clothes.

You can also work on ship cruise where you can work for a period of 6 months to 1 year. Food and accommodation are normally provided to all ship crew, so you can save the money you earn for your next travel.

4. Be a tour/travel guide

You can convince people to hire you as a tour guide even if you’ve only traveled in Asia. A good guide is one who knows a place in-depth. So as long as you know your way around (perhaps even better than the locals) a country, you are qualified to “guide”.

A friend of mine is currently doing this to make his own side income. In fact, many experienced bloggers are doing it too. If you’re a bubbly, easy-going and knowledgeable traveler, it won’t be difficult to find potential customers.

Who are your potential customers? I’d say newlyweds and senior travelers. Even young people will seek for tour guides. You have to remember that not everyone is brave enough to wander around on their own.

My Italian friend who speaks Italian and English lives and travels in Southeast Asia. While he travels, he brings new visitors into the region. His customers are mostly Italians. Some of them can barely speak English. So as their tour guide, he also plays another important role: as a translator!

5. Work in restaurants and guesthouses

If you have been to a city like Sydney, you probably had noticed many young people working as waiters at bar and restaurants. Many of them also work in hostels. You can do the same too in order to make money while traveling. Most of the jobs available are flexible short-term employments.

There are many part-time jobs for you to explore especially at touristy places. Chances of you getting employed are higher when you are a multilingual. Even better if you have a work permit or a working holiday visa. You can work with local businesses.

If you want to make money while traveling, these are 5 ways to do it. There are of course other kinds of jobs you can try out there. Out of these five ways, which ones have you tried? If you have other suggestions, please leave your comments below! =)
