Auckland Airport (AKL) serves Auckland from Māngere, about 21 km south of the city centre in New Zealand. The Domestic and International terminals are separate buildings, so a connection between domestic and overseas flights includes a terminal journey. Match the flight type and the terminal on your booking before selecting transport, parking or a pickup point. Use the airport code and the correct building when arranging a driver.
Air New Zealand and Jetstar domestic flights use the Domestic Terminal. An airline’s name alone is not enough to choose your building: use the flight’s domestic or international designation and the terminal shown on your booking. Arrange your pickup or parking around that building.
Overseas flights use the International Terminal. If you are travelling onwards within New Zealand, include the change of buildings in your connection plan. Keep the next flight’s booking details handy so you can confirm its check-in requirements before leaving the international building.
A free inter-terminal bus links the two buildings. Alternatively, follow the signed Green Line pedestrian route, a walk of approximately 950 metres taking around 10–15 minutes. Construction can affect the route, so follow the signs on the ground rather than taking a shortcut. The walking time covers the transfer itself; it does not include border formalities or check-in.
AirportLink serves both terminals and connects with Puhinui Station for onward trains in the Auckland network. It also connects with Manukau Bus Station. Board at Stop B at the Domestic Terminal or Stop A in the International Transport Hub. Plan the bus and train legs together, including your final connection to your accommodation.
Public bus route 38 runs towards Onehunga via Māngere Town Centre and uses the same terminal stops as AirportLink. For a direct journey to SkyCity in central Auckland, SkyDrive is another option: its airport stops are Domestic Stop A and International Transport Hub Stop E. Choose the service whose city endpoint suits your onward trip.
Auckland Airport offers parking associated with the terminals and a Park & Ride option using a shuttle. Terminal parking and shuttle parking involve different journeys to check-in. Check which terminal your parking arrangement serves and include time to reach that building with your luggage. Confirm the current parking terms before booking.
International airline lounges provide somewhere to wait before an overseas flight. Entry depends on the lounge’s conditions and your airline eligibility, so check access before planning your time around a lounge visit. A domestic booking should not be treated as access to an international lounge.
Showers are available in the International Terminal, including within an international airline lounge. Check whether the shower you intend to use is accessible from your part of the terminal and whether lounge entry is required. Power outlets are provided at selected airport locations and inside an international airline lounge; keep your charger accessible while waiting.
The flight cards help you compare available options for your travel dates. The schedule tables show upcoming flights by date, airline and time. Use those details to plan the airport journey and, for a connection, the change between the Domestic and International terminals. A listed schedule does not replace the terminal information or check-in deadline on your booking.
Search your destination and dates to compare the available Auckland itineraries. Review the baggage allowance and connection arrangement for the ticket you select. Once you have chosen, keep your e-ticket ready and plan transport to the correct AKL terminal.
