Melbourne Airport (MEL), also known as Tullamarine Airport, serves Melbourne in Victoria, Australia. It is north-west of the city centre. The four terminals share one building: T1, T3 and T4 handle domestic flights, while T2 is the international terminal. Check the airport code as well as the city on your booking, as Melbourne also has Avalon Airport (AVV).
For a connection or an early arrival, start by finding the departure terminal on your e-ticket. There are places to eat and shop across the terminals, with duty-free shopping in the international terminal. Check whether an outlet is before or after security before walking there, particularly if you are waiting to meet an arriving passenger.
Qantas domestic flights use T1. Qantas international flights use T2, so the airline name alone does not tell you which terminal to use. Check the terminal on your e-ticket.
T2 handles international flights, including Singapore Airlines and Scoot services. Check-in and departures are upstairs, while arrivals and baggage reclaim are on the ground floor. An international arrival connects to an Australian domestic flight after completing the required arrival formalities and moving to the domestic terminal.
Virgin Australia domestic check-in is in T3. Follow the gate shown for your flight after checking in; your departure gate and check-in terminal may be in different parts of the connected terminal building.
T4 has check-in for Jetstar, Rex and Link Airways on the ground floor. Jetstar international flights use T2 instead. Domestic baggage reclaim is on the ground floor of T4. All four terminals connect within one building, but walking between them can take time, especially from T1 to T4.
SkyBus connects the airport with central Melbourne. Journey time depends on traffic, so allow extra time before a flight. Follow the signs for SkyBus from your arrival terminal and check the destination before boarding.
Public buses leave from the ground-floor Transport Hub at T4. Have a myki card ready and check the connections for your final destination. This is a different service from the airport express bus, so compare its route with your final destination.
Taxi ranks serve the airport terminals. Allow for traffic when planning your journey. Rideshare has designated pickup areas for the terminals; follow the airport signs and the location in your booking app.
The free pickup and drop-off area for T1, T2 and T3 is in the T123 Transport Hub. For T4, use pickup on level 1 and drop-off on level 2 of the T4 Transport Hub. Follow the signs for your terminal rather than stopping on an approach road. Choose parking based on your terminal and length of stay, and check current conditions before driving.
The terminals are part of the same building, but domestic and international processing areas are separate. T2 has international duty-free shopping, and food and retail options are spread across the terminal areas. Allow time to return to your gate after shopping.
Free airport Wi-Fi is available in T2, T3 and T4. This airport network does not cover T1, which is operated by Qantas. Download booking details before travelling if you need them while moving between terminals.
T2 departures has showers before and after security. Bring your own towel, as towel hire is not available. Smartcarte baggage storage is on the ground floor of T2. Public lockers are on the ground floor of the T4 car park, in the designated locker area.
Smoking and vaping are prohibited inside the terminal buildings. Designated smoking areas are outside. Plan accordingly before entering the secure area for an international departure.
The airport has multi-faith prayer rooms, including a room between T2 and T3 and another in the international terminal after security. If you need a wheelchair or help through the terminal, arrange it with your airline before travelling. Tell the airline about a connection so it can plan the assistance needed between flights.
Compare flights on Traveloka using your destination and travel dates. The schedule on this page shows selected upcoming services; it does not include every flight. Check your airline's flight information for operating updates, and use the terminal on your e-ticket when planning your journey.
For a trip from Singapore, consider the full journey as well as the fare. Compare baggage inclusions, connection time and the Australian arrival airport before booking. A Price Alert can help you follow fare changes while deciding on travel dates.
Before choosing your Melbourne terminal and transport connection, consult the Traveloka flight status page with your flight details.
