About Kathmandu

Kathmandu is the capital city of Nepal. It is also the largest city of Nepal, with a population of around 1 million people. Kathmandu is also the largest city in the Himalayan hill district. Tribhuvan International Airport

Is an international airport located in the Kathmandu Valley about 5 kilometres from the city center of Kathmandu, Nepal. Currently, the airport has one domestic and one international terminal. Kathmandu Airport is located around 1 km from Pashupatinath Temple and 6 km east of city center and main tourists’ area which is Thamel. Facilities at Tribhuvan are limited. There are foreign-exchange booths before and after immigration, and there is an old tourist information counter by the terminal exit. A small stand provides instant passport photos but brings some from home to be harmless. The airport also offers public transportation which is connected to different parts of Kathmandu by city bus Sajha Yatayat, local buses out of airport and cabs. The nearest hotel to the Airport Hotel is just located around 200 m from the airport. The latest discovered objects during the excavation here in the aftermath of the 2015 earthquake have recommended that the Kasthamandap may have been built in the 7th century during the Lichhavi era. Currently, the team is now carrying out diggings of the Kasthamandap with the financial and technological funding of the National Geographic Society and Art and Humanities Research Council. The structure of the heritage site was found solidly built by using traditional methods.
