Mount Moiwa

A ropeway and small cable car carry visitors up Mount Moiwa, where the night view over the city lights is one of the best in Japan. On clear days you can see across Sapporo to the sea.

Close to the centre, this compact market sells crab, sea urchin, salmon roe and seasonal produce. Small eateries inside serve fresh seafood breakfasts from the morning.

Moerenuma Park

Designed by the sculptor Isamu Noguchi, this large park in the north-east of Sapporo is full of artificial hills, geometric play spaces and a glass pyramid. It is not far from Okadama and makes a relaxed half-day visit.
