Found a cockroach in my bed, showed staff and decided to end my stay one day earlier. Manager decided they would not refund me for this day claiming that there was no evidence of the insect, even though I had showed a staff member WHO TOOK A PICTURE. Be prepared to sleep with cockroaches if you stay here.

The place is old but well maintained my room was clean and in good condition and very spacious and represented excellent value for money. Room did smell quite a bit though but running the aircon seemed to take care of that . And the money I saved on the accommodation i was able to spend on dinner, so added bonus. Plus it’s walking distance to lots of local facilities including the Brisbane Showgrounds, so I was able to walk to the concert I was seeing and back again! There’s parking on site but it is limited so best to get in early! Overall and enjoyable stay in an historic hotel.

Wall panels broken in the bathroom, which made thw room feel very unloved. Room qas advertised as having feee WiFi, however it appeared to not reach the room very well so did not work. I ended up purchasing extra data and hot- spotting the TV. Housekeeping was extremely poor! I stayed 5 nights, and not once did house keeping turn up and complete a service on the room, without me asking (because my room had been missed) or without them forgetting something (never replaced my dirty towels that were left in the shower). Reception kept apologizing, saying the house keeper was new- but this was every single day. Room was not vacuumed once while i was there, nor was the bed made. Felt like as a customer, i was being annoying requesting clean towels and replacement coffee sachets etc. Shower was also broken, with the hand held shower head always falling off the wall (it couldn't attach properly). Really wish i had have saved my money and gone elsewhere. Feels like i wasted every cent i paid for this accommodation. Do not recommend

I upgraded my room to have my own bathroom and paid an extra $200 to do so. When i got to my new room the bathroom was absolutely disgusting. There were faeces all down the front of the bowl, the floors had what looked like faeces on it, cigareete butts and hair stuck in the drain. The drain was also blocked and had to get a plumber in to fix. The bedding had cogarettes burn marks in it also. It took 3 requests to get the room cleaned to a point of being lovable although still not very hygenic. A comment made by staff made me feel ubsafe also " oh the toilet may have been used by someone else while you were out. People sneak in all the time from the shared bathrooms" i know it was a budget hotel but i still expect basic hygeine and some form of security. Absolutely disgusting would not recommend to anyone
