I stayed at Citadines St George Terrace with my son over the holidays. The best thing about this place is definitely the location. It's right in the middle of Perth, so we could walk to Bus Station, Elizabeth Quay, Kings Park, and all the shopping areas. This made exploring the city super convenient. If you're here to explore the city, you can't beat it. The room was also quite large, which was great since I was traveling with kids. The kitchenette was useful for making quick breakfasts before heading out. All in all, Citadines is a solid choice if you're looking for a convenient place to sleep while exploring Perth.

More about hotels in Perth

Your Complete Guide to Hotels in Perth

Perth, the sun-drenched capital of Western Australia, is one of the most popular long-haul destinations for Singapore travellers. Known for its stunning beaches, world-class wine regions, pristine natural landscapes, and laid-back lifestyle, Perth offers a refreshing escape from the tropical humidity of Singapore. The city enjoys more sunshine than any other Australian capital, making it a year-round destination for those seeking outdoor adventures, cultural experiences, and culinary delights.

Perth's hotel scene has grown significantly in recent years, with new luxury properties, trendy boutique hotels, and well-known international brands joining the established accommodation landscape. Whether you are looking for a sophisticated city-centre hotel, a beachfront retreat in Scarborough, or a charming stay in the historic port city of Fremantle, Traveloka has you covered with the best rates and instant confirmation.

Best Areas to Stay in Perth

Perth CBD

The central business district is the most convenient base for first-time visitors. Perth CBD offers easy access to shopping on Murray Street and Hay Street malls, cultural attractions like the Art Gallery of Western Australia, and the beautiful Kings Park. Hotels here range from budget options to premium five-star properties. The free CAT bus service makes it easy to get around the city centre without spending on transport.

Northbridge

Adjacent to the CBD, Northbridge is Perth's entertainment and cultural hub. This vibrant neighbourhood is packed with restaurants, bars, cafes, and the Perth Cultural Centre. It is a fantastic area for food lovers, with a diverse range of cuisines including excellent Asian dining options that will feel familiar to Singapore travellers. Hotels here are mostly mid-range with a few boutique options.

Scarborough Beach

For a beachside holiday experience, Scarborough is hard to beat. This coastal suburb has undergone a major redevelopment and now features a stunning beachfront promenade, restaurants, and modern apartment-style hotels. It is about 20 minutes from the CBD and ideal for travellers who want to wake up to ocean views and spend their days on the sand.

Fremantle

The charming port city of Fremantle, or Freo as locals call it, is located about 30 minutes south of Perth CBD. Known for its well-preserved heritage buildings, vibrant markets, craft breweries, and artistic community, Fremantle offers a unique alternative to staying in the city. Hotels here range from heritage boutique properties to modern waterfront apartments.

Hotel Prices by Star Rating in Perth

As an Australian city, Perth's hotel prices are higher than most Southeast Asian destinations but still offer good value compared to Sydney and Melbourne. Here is a guide to typical nightly rates in SGD.

Budget Hotels (2-3 Stars): SGD 80 - SGD 150 per night | Mid-Range Hotels (3-4 Stars): SGD 150 - SGD 280 per night | Upper Mid-Range (4 Stars): SGD 280 - SGD 400 per night | Luxury Hotels (5 Stars): SGD 400 - SGD 900+ per night

Prices tend to be higher during Australian school holidays, major events like the Perth Festival in February, and the wildflower season from September to November. Booking early on Traveloka helps secure competitive rates.

Top Hotels in Perth

The Crown Towers Perth is the city's premier luxury hotel, offering opulent rooms, a spectacular infinity pool, and direct access to Crown Perth's entertainment complex. COMO The Treasury, housed in a beautifully restored 19th-century State Buildings, is another top-tier choice with its elegant design and exceptional dining at Wildflower restaurant.

For mid-range comfort, the QT Perth brings a quirky and stylish vibe to the CBD with its bold interiors and rooftop bar. DoubleTree by Hilton Perth Northbridge offers modern rooms and a great location near the cultural precinct. Tribe Perth is a contemporary option in the Kings Park area with smart, well-designed rooms at accessible prices. Budget travellers can look at ibis Perth or the Perth City YHA for clean, functional accommodation at lower price points.

Best Time to Visit Perth

Perth enjoys a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. The Australian summer from December to February is the peak season, with temperatures ranging from 25-35 degrees Celsius, perfect for beach activities and outdoor dining. Autumn (March to May) is arguably the best time to visit, offering warm days, cooler evenings, and fewer crowds. Spring (September to November) is spectacular for wildflower season, when Western Australia's outback explodes with colourful blooms. Winter (June to August) is the coolest and wettest period but still mild by Singapore standards, with temperatures around 10-18 degrees Celsius.

Getting to Perth from Singapore

Direct flights from Singapore Changi Airport to Perth Airport (PER) take approximately 5 hours and 30 minutes. Singapore Airlines and Scoot operate direct services on this route, making Perth one of the closest Australian cities to Singapore. Return flights typically range from SGD 400 to SGD 900 depending on the airline, class, and season. Scoot often offers promotional fares starting from around SGD 300 return for economy class.

Perth Airport is located about 15 kilometres east of the CBD. The airport connects to the city via the Forrestfield-Airport Link train line, reaching the city centre in approximately 20 minutes. Taxis and ride-share services are also available, with a trip to the CBD costing approximately SGD 40-55. Singapore passport holders do not need a traditional visa but must obtain an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) or eVisitor visa before travelling, which can be applied for online.

Top Attractions in Perth

Kings Park and Botanic Garden is Perth's crown jewel, a 400-hectare parkland offering stunning views of the city skyline and Swan River. The park features beautiful walking trails, picnic areas, and the impressive Lotterywest Federation Walkway through the treetops. Elizabeth Quay is the city's revitalised waterfront precinct with public art installations, restaurants, and ferry services to South Perth.

Rottnest Island, a short ferry ride from Perth or Fremantle, is a must-visit destination famous for its adorable quokkas, crystal-clear bays, and car-free environment. The island is perfect for cycling, snorkelling, and photography. The Fremantle Markets, operating since 1897, are a treasure trove of local produce, artisan goods, and street food. For wine enthusiasts, the Swan Valley wine region is just 25 minutes from the CBD and offers cellar door tastings, craft breweries, and gourmet dining. Cottesloe Beach is another favourite, known for its turquoise waters and iconic beachside pub.

Tips for Booking Hotels in Perth

Book well in advance if you are visiting during peak seasons such as Australian summer holidays (December to January), the Perth Festival (February), or wildflower season (September to November). Consider staying in serviced apartments if you are travelling with family, as they offer kitchen facilities and more space, which can significantly reduce dining costs in Australia.

Check if your hotel includes complimentary parking, as this can save you SGD 30-50 per day in the CBD. Many Perth hotels offer special weekend rates that are lower than weekday business rates, so consider timing your stay accordingly. Take advantage of Traveloka's flight and hotel bundles to maximise savings on your Perth trip. If you are planning day trips to Rottnest Island or the Swan Valley, a CBD hotel with good public transport access will be most convenient.
