City Pension - Self Check-in

Good

The room smelled like someone had previously smoked in the room but the worst part was the loud noise that made it nearly impossible to sleep. There is a bar or club below that played loud bass thumping music until 4am that can be heard loudly in the room. Additionally starting at 7am there was more noise that sounded like a train going by for 2 hours. I put white noise to try and drowned out the sounds but both times the sounds were too loud and the white noise didn’t work. I don’t know how anyone staying here gets any sleep.

The room we had which was a double small I think was very small, had to hop over luggage’s on the floor. The bathroom was small but doable, I like that they provide more amenities just outside your door in the hallway since there isn’t staff on site 24/7. The location was amazing, just two streets over from the st stephens square and basilica. The door to the hotel while in the building was never actually locked you could pull the handle and walk in so anyone from the street could technically enter. The lock pad to our room was malfunctioning, would not lock from the outside would have to wait five minutes for the flashing to stop. Eventually the second day the cleaner was outside the room and she phoned to have someone fix it while we were gone. The bed was comfy, relatively clean room, some spots on the floor were dirty when we moved the table over. I noticed a ball like thing behind the curtain above the bed attached to the wall that looked like a public camera used in stores I’m not sure what this was. Otherwise decent stay for the price in the area.

The only pro is the location. The room is very small. You hear everything from outside. Doesn't recommend for the paid price.

Everything was perfect!

The place was very centrally located. The rooms were clean and comfortable. However, the mini fridge did not work properly and my yogurt spoiled. Not a fan of the self service/ electronic model for check-in/ communicating, etc. I can respect that but I doubt I would stay here again. Too expensive for what the room/ service offered.

This hotel was fantastic. There isn’t a staff onsite so keep in mind you can’t just come in early and check bags or ask someone questions at the desk but I had a very early flight in and they were reachable through the app and they worked with me on check in time and were extremely pleasant. I was overjoyed by the room. I expected smaller and a tiny bed but it was spacious with high ceilings very comfy bed and bedding. There is a wonderful cafe across from the hotel really good coffee and pastries. Wonderful location a 4 minute walk to St. Stephen’s. 13 minute walk to Vienna State Opera house.

Very comfortable and quiet room.

This room was spacious for two people and very clean. I liked that they procided ear plugs in case of noise.the location is about a 15 min walk from the Wien mitte train station, near other metro stations and close to attractions. I would stay here again.

This place was great. It allowed me to check in early and was in a great location. It was a very tiny bathroom, but that worked for just me traveling. I would stay here again.

Old tiny small place, very bad smell toilet, noisy wood floor, and doesn't have hair conditioner.

Staff was accommodating with our check in and check out times. They were sweet and answered all of our questions. Not only that but the location is perfect. It's the higher end part of the city centre and the price was incredibly reasonable. Definitely will return and book a room here.

The thing that I wasnt so thrilled about is front entrance of the hotel..it was dirty and did not look like a hotel. But once i got in to the hotel that was on 2nd or 3rd floor, the room was nice and clean and the receprionist was very friendly and helpful.

Location, location, location! I loved staying here. The building is from the late 19th century and the Pension takes up the whole mezzanine level. My room was really cozy with tall ceilings and an updated, very modern bathroom. I arrived to a plate of fruit, some chocolates, a hand-written note, and a kettle for tea. Charming. The room has a radiator and it had what I believe was an a/c unit on the room as well. The bed was really comfortable. I did ask for an extra duvet since they don't do flat sheets in europe and I tend to get cold when I sleep. The bathroom has a shower with a real door so water wasn't going all over the bathroom! I will say that the shower was about 3'x3' but tall. I had no issues but someone who is more corpulent might find it a bit tight. I would say that's a tiny consideration and would not prevent me from recommending the Pension to friends. The hotel has breakfast available each morning. I highly recommend paying for the breakfast when you book the room. I paid an extra $10/night. Had I waited until I was at the hotel to pay for breakfast, it would have been €16. Great breakfast. Eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, cereal, toast, pastries... My favorite thing about the hotel is that they give you real keys. You walk back to the hotel at the end of the day and unlock the door to a real Viennese house like a real Viennese resident. If I'm ever fortunate enough to be back in Vienna, I will definitely stay there again!

The staff goes above and beyond. I had an early flight, and the front desk person made me a lunch to take with me since I'd miss breakfast. Unfortunately, you'll hear the noise from the people on the street smoking outside the restaurant below, but I packed earplugs and had no problems sleeping.
