Hostal Forestal - Hostel

We enjoyed our stay here. The hostal is in a good location where you can walk to many places. It's just minutes from the metro, supermarket, restaurants and major site seeing areas. The people are really helpful and nice. Breakfast is a buffet of eggs, fruit, juice, cereal, bread, jams, butter, coffee, milk and tea. We would definately stay here again.

Overall, this is a great place to stay hostal-wise. The shared bathrooms were always very clean, in both the AM and PM when I used them. I stayed in a single room (room 2) and was quite pleased with how comfortable the bed was and how the pillows were the perfect blend of firm and soft. Could use just one more pillow though. Reception speaks English as well. Major props for allowing me to check in earlier after a 24-hour flight journey! Rooms are very clean and housekeeping is also offered (from an unpleasant woman, a sharp contrast from the cheery reception). Breakfast is included and pretty simple but kept me satisfied with eggs (hard-boiled and one day scrambled offered), cereals, cheese slices and fruit. There is a fridge so you can store sundries and a big kitchen to cook. Of course, you should clean up your cutlery and plate ware after use! This isn’t a party hostel which I was super glad about. I slept really well each night. The mini fan in the room is super helpful to block out any noise - room 2 is the closest to reception so without the fan you would hear any talking or music there. A slight warning that the room had a slight musty smell of cigarettes bc a patio is right next to it, and you can smoke on there. Still wouldn’t prevent me from booking this room again (and I HATE cigarettes). The location of this place is ACE, within walking distance of the historic centre, as well as Bellavista. One thing: get rid of the gross bathroom mat!

They serve breakfast but told me to wash dishes after eating breakfast. Where in the world make customer wash dishes? Totally unethical. I need refund for unethical service.

Fantastic place to stay. The staff is super friendly and you are central to almost everything in town. Highly recommended staying here.

Pretty clean but slightly tired hostel. The reception staff were very helpful if you needed something. Not the most social of places but maybe that was just the vibe at the time! Nice location next to Forestal park and within walking distance to almost everything

Good location both for public transport and the lovely neighborhoods of Santiago. Good value, great staff. The social spaces are brillaint especially having a seperate quiet sofa area

This was our last 'stop' for our SA backpacking adventure, and was the best hostel we stayed in. At first look you might get put off by the graffiti (which is everywhere in Santiago), but this place is great inside. Booked the private twin room (for an amazing price), and arrived at a ridiculous time (6am). The lovely receptionist (whose name I sadly didn't get) checked us in quickly and let us have breakfast too! Our room was super clean (which was a welcome surprise after the other hostels we stayed at), spacious, had a powerful fan, beautifully decorated AND had a en-suite. We felt like we hit the jackpot! Breakfast was plentiful (the chocolate cereal is recommended), only thing I would recommend is to provide hot water and tea bags for us tea drinkers. Please give this place a chance- yes we could hear some protests from our window BUT still felt safe here. This hostel was also a short walk from the city centre/local markets. If we ever return to Santiago, we will definitely come back to this hostel. Thank you so much for allowing us to end our trip on a high (especially during the tricky times with travel bans). Also another massive thank you to the lady who checked us in- you are AMAZING and an asset to the hostel!

great place, awesome and friendly staff, perfect location

Hotel was nice but we were there on Friday night so there were riots/protests outside until about 2:30 a.m. We stayed in a private room with private bathroom which was nice. Towels were provided. Breakfast was decent. The staff was very nice. They have games available and beverages to purchase along with nice clean shared common spaces.

Our room was not clean!!!! Don't stay here. Its been the worst place we have stayed in the whole of South America and we are not fussy travellers. We also had a private bathroom which was also dirty, so dirty in fact I did not even want to use it. We went for this hostel as it had high reviews but it definitely wasn't at a high standard. The breakfast that was included was also rubbish.

Very Social hostel with a lot of sponsored events. There were always people in the common areas. Rooms were clean and the location was close to tons of things...but the street was a little sketchy at night.
