Mövenpick Waterpark Resort & Spa Soma Bay

I stayed here for many nights, the descriptions states it has few restaurants. But doesn't state you'll need to reserve 4 restaurants atleast 24-48hrs before.You cannot eat there without booking. There is only 1 main restaurant that has it's operating time. Breaky 7-10am, lunch 1-3pm dinner 7-9.30. There are not any snack places to eat if you have young children and want something for the them to have away from the designated times. Which is a downside to this resort as kids get hungry and need snacks throughout the day or your timings are just different. Ice cream is served daily 3-4pm only. Which is another downside for a 5star hotel. The are costs are extortionate for spa, and gym if you like to use it. You'll have haggle the prices not ideal for the guest. The hotel cleaning is utterly poorly. Our cleaner called Ahmed never changed our bedding, never refilled soaps or change towels. I used to tell him daily but he always ignored me. The reception didn't take the complaint on board either. Then resort itself is beautiful but doesn't hold 5star treatment. Ive been to better resorts and worth the money we pay. This resort is expensive but low standards. The location is futhur out. excursions prices will always be higher with additional costs. Its 45 mins away from airport. 20 mins away from Senzo mall and 1 hr away from Old dowtown hurghada. I've attached photos of the worn out bedding that they still use. Safety issue lifeguards are limited at pools and beachs.

Movenpick Soma Bay is an amazing resort! We started discussing our next visit after the first two days! The staff is friendly and well trained. The property is well maintained and beautiful with an amazing beack and so much to offer any guest!

Liked: Staff are very helpful specially at front desk. Room was spacious. Beach was nice and clean, sea was good. Disliked: Cleanliness specifically in restaurant. Food quality was much less than expected. Children were allowed many times in adults only areas.

Our room was cleaned on the daily basis and very comfortable. As we had a video conference to join during our stay and the WiFi signal was not so strong in our room, we requested for a solution from the front desk and they provided with a router in our room that we used until the end of our stay. The WiFi signal is very good at the beach and almost everywhere on the resort premises. No comment on food. So in general, we enjoyed our 10 days stay and we hope to be back in the summer if possible.

Amazing hotel with very polite and helpful staff. All inclusive was a great option. All in all I was very happy and will be staying there again

Service was excellent at reception and in the restaurant. Didn't like the sales people who seemed to all pounce on us within 30 minutes of arriving at the pool on our first day.

We came back to the Movenpick after a lovely holiday last year - this time staying for 12 nights and choosing one of the hotels top suites which we had booked 6 months in advance and got this suite all-inclusive for the same price as staying in a normal room at the Sheraton or Kempinski. It was well worth it too. The next 12 days were filled basically relaxing in the hotel's tranquil, and at the start of December very quiet, surroundings - enjoying the gym and spa, playing tennis or swimming/snorkelling in the sea off their newly constructed jetty. We were thoroughly looked after by the staff who are without exception an absolute credit to the hotel. Every single member of their team has a smile on their face and clearly takes pride in the service they give you. Aside from service, the food is very good although some buffet dishes can be a bit bland - but this is always the case when trying to cater for everyone. The ingredients are probably the best available and it tells as the fish is always fresh, the meat is always lean and tasty and the veg too with lots of choice for veggies and vegans. The entertainment is surprisingly good to and the team are really keen to get people involved and always have a smile on their face. Again these guys cannot help enough. All in all the Movenpick is perhaps not the best hotel in the area, it is also a bit isolated BUT it is exceptional value for money with good food and great staff, a safe and lovely beach an ideal spot to relax

Very bad food quality

Hotel is nice and clean. Deluxe room was great but some of the furniture could use an upgrade. Staff were friendly but not always competent and service wasn’t always timely. Food was good but the coffee at breakfast was disgusting (why don’t they serve movenpick coffee?? It’s good!) We used the dive center which was great.

It's a beautiful resort hotel on the Red Sea. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable, and the restaurant serves tasty food. The area is far from the nearest town and so not plagued by the early morning call to prayer, but rooms close to the entertainment area will often have to endure load music late into the night.

I only used the hotel as a place to dine and sleep while spending my days working in the desert west of Safaga. I made no use of the beach and other resort facilities and so cannot evaluate these. The parts of the hotel I did frequent (i.e., the room, dining facility, reception lobby and garden) were beautiful, comfortable, and very clean.

The hotel is located in beautiful Soma bay and have the potential to be a very good hotel. The beach is great and it's possible to enjoy scuba diving, horse riding and other nice activities! The hotel also has very nice restaurants, both in the main building and on the beach. With reference to all the great potential described above it's very sad when a hotel chose to serve; wine, beer and spirits of very low quality to all it's full board guests. The wine tasted more like water than wine and the "whisky" tasted like petrol. We tried to buy better wines for our dinner but the hotel was not able to provide. I'm convinced that a big hotel group like Mövenpick could solve this issue and thereby improve the experience for their guests significantly.

Bad location, closest thing is half an hour drive, middle of nowhere. Food horrible especially if u have an all inclusive plan. Transportation to & from hotel is very expensive. Beach not that good.

Great room.Great and helpful reception stuff the rest were unfriendly at all. kids club was quite dirty. poor animation. room service was one of the most weak points in the hotel services(very slow and not aware by their work scope).As the hotel visitors increases you feel the confusion everywhere.

Excellent hotel with beautiful gardens, beautiful beach and excellent staff. They also provided activities throughout the day and fun evening and night entertainment, Bob and Julia will make your activities and entertainment is fun and exciting during your stay.
