Hyatt Centric Cambridge

For the first three days of our stay, the AC was nonfunctional in the guest rooms. Rooms were 80F. There was no ETA for repair, front desk staff was untrained and some personnel were rude. We moved to a different room and the new room had a clogged sink and there was no maintenance person available to fix it. We left for 24 hours and the drain was repaired and the AC was kind of working. I reported my problems to Hyatt Corporate, hopefully some of my recommendations will be implemented. Not having any maintenance people available after 5pm is very risky. Poor training just exacerbates guest frustration. Hyatt can do much better

Very helpful staff, good location for our stay

The rooms are not 100 % clean. The A/C did not work because the resent heat wave, a member of the staff mentioned as well offered a fan which never came in my room.

Annoyed that the air-conditioning was broken throughout, the building is very hot without this. No fans or support from the staff with this.

Good experience

My room was excellent. Ordered dinner and drink. Waited ages for drink and eventually rather busy waitress came up with the goods. The one I ordered from had vanished. The vanishing waitress who took my food order, was careful to ask about food allergies. I told her gluten free please. When my prawn (actually shrimp plus one prawn) cocktail arrived it had bread with it. I asked if it was gluten free. ‘No’ was the reply. Took it away and brought some inedible presumably GF stuff which I didn’t eat and also rejected at breakfast. Main course was a celeriac dish which was very nice. It was 5 percentage celeriac, 0.5 percent green veg, the rest potato. I managed 1/2 the potato. I rest my case.

Was very nice stay

Arrived at 8pm. Room was still not ready. Booked a room with 2 single beds but only a double was available. Beds did eventually get changed but this took a bit of extra time to get done. Hotel is very nice in general and clean. Breakfast is expensive for what it is. Food quality is good but the eggs are poor and not the best. The other food at Breakfast was good. Stayed at this hotel as I was travelling to IWM Duxford the next morning which is only 15 minutes down the road so was good for this location. Hotel is easy to get to as its just off the M11 so good if you are looking for a stay over before getting to London. Car parking is a further £20 so take this into account when booking. Hotel was priced at £115 per night then add the car parking + £36 for breakfast (for 2 people) then it soon mounts up.

This community center event location is excellent, offering a quiet and pleasant stay. However, I have a complaint about the bathroom shower. It doesn’t drain well, and despite alerting the staff, the issue hasn’t been resolved. As a result, I resorted to taking quick showers.

Very clean and tidy and excellent access to West Cambridge/Churchill College

Spacious room with a fridge. Staff friendly and courteous. Had a nice meal in the restaurant, skipped the breakfast. Bit of a desolate location, nothing much around in walking distance.

Only concern. Room smells like cigarette smoke. Reported it to a staff member this morning but he didn’t seem to care.

A nice hotel with helpful staff & good food.

Really good location. Park and ride into Cambridge just a 10 min walk. We brought our dog their was lovely walks around the estate.

Lovely hotel, hotel room was clean. Very comfortable bed and shower was hot. It was quiet which is what we needed after all the walking in Cambridge city. Check in was a little crazy as the receptionist was checking us and other guests at the same time. It was annoying as there were other staff members there behind the receptionist desk who should have helped. That is the only negative thing I could say about our stay. Will book to stay at this hotel again, it was very easy to get into the city from the hotel.

Nice hotel , very clean , the rooms are a good size , nice open space . The hotel is very close to the Park & ride just a few minutes walking distance. Easy to get to the City centre . Good customer service.

Great location And value for money!

Well-designed hotel with a lovely interior throughout. The location is excellent too – it’s on a new development just outside the city centre, and hopping on a Voi scooter into town was quick, easy and quite possibly the most fun I’ve had obeying traffic laws. The bedrooms are also great, the breakfast buffet was excellent, and overall it’s a place I’d happily stay again. However… there is one issue. The bar staff called time at 10:30pm. 10:30pm. On. A. Saturday... I wasn’t asking them to recreate Ibiza in 1999. I simply thought a second pint while watching the World Cup on a warm summer evening in the lovely outdoor seating area wasn’t an outrageous request. Perhaps I’m showing my age, but I’d always considered 10:30pm to be the point where an evening begins to gather momentum. Everything else was superb. Just don’t expect the nightlife to extend beyond the end of The One Show.

Amenities: Broken but addressed by maintenance the following morning: toilet seat, refrigerator. Room annoyances: Fire alarm at 6:50 AM and 11:52AM, air conditioning not working. Staff: On Monday around 7pm, staff told me repeatedly I would be able to extend. To be safe, I made a booking at the sister property (in the same building). Then front desk called at 1pm on Tuesday and told me to leave immediately. Said hotel completely full for the remainder of the week, and were even overbooked by 1. Refused to let me speak to the duty manager. I insisted given the misleading and/or lack of communication. He threatened to send someone to "throw me out". I insisted on staying until I spoke to a manager. Manager arrived. She apologises and offers to check me in immediately. I accept. The entire incident was completely avoidable if they had just told me the truth. Also, in a hotel with 200 rooms, being overbooked by one is not the crisis they proclaimed it to be. The likelihood of 2 people cancelling during the day was quite high. Well, people did cancel. I know because more bookings appeared I booked for Wednesday to Friday. I am writing this review from the room. That proves they did have availability at the time the told me they did not, or people cancelled afterwards. Even then, it was pretty obvious there might be a cancellation. In sum, the front desk staff treated me as a criminal after being told incorrect information on 4 separate occasions.

Room was lovely as usual. Quiet, cool in the heat, clean
