Great place to stay in Hastings/St. Leonards-on-Sea. Magnificent grand hotel, spacious rooms and a lot of old-world luster. Plus, right on the bus lines to Margate Beach, Hastings Old Town and the rest. We would definitely stay again!

Beautiful historical building but just a shame not really clean. Tired and had paint peeling off walls. For the price fair but if I hadn’t have had discount from hotels.com wouldn’t have been happy.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was very tired. Furniture was worn and dirty. Front revolving door was so dirty your fingers would slip on the handrail and your reflection in the dirty glass window was blurry. The tablecloths in the diningroom had sun spots and green stains. You can tell the management was investing in the exterior with fresh paint but the interior needed excessive work

Hotel was ok, clean enough but needs updating. Hot water was very intermittent, I was told it needs to run for 15 mins before getting warm, but I ran it for much longer than that and still had to have cold showers every morning. Breakfast was overpriced for what it was. Great location and friendly staff.

This property desperately needs a refurbishment! Paintwork is awful. Surface cleaning is ok but it needs a deep clean. Such a small shower. Its just an attachment shower and very difficult to use effectively. The carpet had cigarette burns on it which shows how old it is. Avoid!!

My daughter was getting married so decided to book a suite for a couple of nights so hair make up and space for dressing before leaving for the ceremony. We looked at rooms a few weeks ago and agreed for an ice bucket Champagne glasses and small plates to be available in the room. Come the day of the wedding none of the agreed things were in the room. We asked 4 times for these items but never arrived so my other daughter went directly to the kitchen and finally got the items very poor service. As for the room itself peeling paint, wobbly table, very dated and dilapidated furniture, curtains hanging loose for windows, rusting heaters and poor decoration in the bathroom (screw holes by bath where a soap dish may have been!!! Too late to complain and move room as timescales of hair make up and dressing were tight so just got on with it. Having paid over £200 for 2 nights was very very dissapointing would not recommend friends or family to stay here unfortunately as it is an amazing building but needs lots to bring up to an acceptable standard 😢😢😢
