What Guests Say About Their Stay

Beautiful!! This place is close to bus station heading from or to Rovaniemi-Saariselka, and the staff are so friendly!! They also has Aurora’s venue for people who wants to wait for aurora (sadly ours was snowing that time). And about the luggage, you have to carry it by your self with unique sled they have prepared for the guest. The breakfast also are good. The only thing is the room is not warm enough, so we told them and the technician came as soon as we finished our dinner and they increased the heat like what we wanted. Good service!😊

Apukka resort had very nice Glass Igloos with beautiful surroundings. Resort had several activities offered - Husky rides, Rein deer sled rides etc. We however preferred to enjoy the already available activities like Rein deer farm viewing, Frozen lake walk, Fire camping , snow tubing , snow Sledding there . Breakfast was exquisite with several choices ranging from jucies , desserts, main course food like oatmeal, pancakes, varieties of breads, cheese . We stayed here for the glass igloos experience and hopes to see northern lights. For our bad luck it was a very cloudy day that night , else the resort is far away from Rovaneimi lights and a perfect place for northern lights viewing .

Overview of Apukka Resort

Apukka Resort is a 3.5-star resort at Tutkijantie 28, 96900 Rovaniemi, in Finnish Lapland, and one detail sets it apart from most stays in the area: the property holds Green Key certification, the eco-label awarded by the Foundation for Environmental Education. Traveloka's listing also describes it as a beach hotel, and a marina appears among its recreation facilities, so this is a waterside retreat set away from the compact city centre rather than a downtown business hotel.

The resort sits roughly 16 kilometres from central Rovaniemi landmarks such as Arktikum and Lappia House, and about 9.3 kilometres from Santa Claus Village. Its listing notes that it is near skiing, and the surrounding countryside of fells and forest gives it a quieter, more rural feel than the hotels clustered around the Rovaniemi riverfront. With 84 guest rooms across the property, it is a mid-sized base: large enough to have its own restaurant, bar and sauna, yet small enough to keep a relaxed pace.

Several practical details shape the stay. The property has no lifts, it does not provide rollaway or extra beds, pets are not allowed, and payments are cashless (credit cards are accepted, cash is not). Contactless check-in is available, and the front desk keeps limited hours rather than staffing reception around the clock. Knowing these points before you book helps you choose the right room and plan your arrival time, especially if you are flying into Lapland late in the day.

Room Types at Apukka Resort

Traveloka's listing confirms 84 air-conditioned guest rooms at Apukka Resort. The structured feed does not publish a named room-tier ladder for this property, so rather than guess at categories, the details below cover what is confirmed for the room stock as a whole. Check the live room list on the booking page for the current names, bed set-ups and occupancy limits before you choose.

Guest rooms: what every room includes

According to the listing, every room is air-conditioned and comes with complimentary wireless internet access, so you can stay connected for trip planning, aurora-forecast checks or video calls home. Bathrooms feature showers, bidets and hair dryers. These are the confirmed in-room basics; any further amenities such as kettles, minibars or particular views vary by room and are best confirmed on the individual room listing at the time of booking.

Choosing the right room for your group

Because Apukka Resort does not provide rollaway or extra beds, it is worth picking a room whose standard occupancy already fits your party, rather than planning to add a bed on arrival. Families travelling with an infant can request a crib, which the property offers for a per-stay fee (see the listing for the current amount). The resort also notes that some outdoor spaces, such as balconies, patios and terraces, may not be suitable for young children, and recommends contacting the property ahead of arrival if you would like a room that suits your family.

Accessibility and housekeeping notes

Apukka Resort has no elevators, so guests who would prefer to avoid stairs should mention this when booking or contact the property in advance using the details on the booking confirmation. Housekeeping is available for an additional fee rather than included as standard, which matters if you are planning a longer stay and would like regular room servicing. Special requests are subject to availability upon check-in and cannot be guaranteed, so make them early.

Facilities and Amenities

For a mid-sized Lapland resort, Apukka Resort covers the essentials of a winter or summer holiday well. The facilities confirmed in Traveloka's listing fall into a few clear groups:

  • Relaxation: a sauna, the classic Finnish way to warm up after a day outdoors, plus a terrace and a fireplace in the lobby.
  • Outdoor recreation: a marina and bicycle rental, useful for exploring the surroundings in the warmer months.
  • Connectivity: free WiFi, with complimentary wireless internet in guest rooms.
  • Parking: free self parking on site, handy if you are driving a rental car around Lapland.
  • Events: banquet facilities for group gatherings and celebrations.
  • Shopping: a gift shop or newsstand on site, with further shops nearby.
  • Services: multilingual staff and luggage storage, which help on arrival and departure days.
  • Smoking: a designated smoking area.

The sauna is likely to be the facility most guests remember. In Finland, sauna is part of everyday life rather than a spa extra, and having one on site at Apukka Resort means you can warm up after husky rides, snowshoe walks or a long evening waiting for the northern lights. The fireplace in the lobby adds a similar sense of cosiness on dark winter afternoons.

Apukka Resort is also recognised with Green Key certification from the Foundation for Environmental Education, an international eco-label for tourism businesses. For travellers who weigh sustainability when choosing where to stay, this is one of the clearest verifiable signals available for a property in the Rovaniemi area.

Location and Getting There

Apukka Resort lies in the countryside outside central Rovaniemi, with the city's main sights a short drive away. Distances listed by the property include:

  • Santa Claus Village: about 9.3 km
  • SantaPark: about 11.1 km
  • Syväsenvaara Fell: about 11.5 km
  • Pilke Science Centre, Arktikum and Lappia House: about 16.3 km
  • Revontuli Shopping Center: about 16.4 km
  • Sampokeskus Shopping Centre and Lordi's Square: about 16.5 km
  • Ounasvaara: about 16.8 km

The listing describes the resort as within a 15-minute drive of SantaPark and Revontuli Shopping Center, so a car or pre-arranged transfer makes exploring much easier than relying on walking. Free self parking on site suits guests who rent a car on arrival.

Arriving by air

The preferred airport for Apukka Resort is Rovaniemi Airport (RVN), about 12.1 kilometres away. Travellers from Singapore usually connect through Helsinki or another European hub; you can search flights to Rovaniemi on Traveloka and compare routings before fixing your dates.

Airport transfers

The property offers airport transfers for a surcharge. To arrange a pick-up, contact Apukka Resort at least 48 hours before arrival using the contact details on your booking confirmation. Transfer fees are set by the property and may change, so confirm the current rate directly when you arrange the pick-up.

  1. Book your stay and note the contact details on the confirmation.
  2. Contact the property at least 48 hours before arrival to request the airport transfer and confirm your check-in arrangements.
  3. If you expect to arrive after 10:30 PM, let the property know in advance, as the front desk is staffed during limited hours.

Dining at Apukka Resort

The resort's signature restaurant is Aitta, which the listing describes as serving local cuisine. Traveloka's data confirms an on-site restaurant and a bar, alongside a coffee shop and a snack bar, so you can choose between a sit-down Lapland dinner and a lighter bite after an excursion.

  • Aitta: the resort restaurant, focused on local cuisine.
  • Bar/lounge: for an evening drink, before or after an aurora outing.
  • Coffee shop and snack bar: for coffee and quick meals during the day.
  • Breakfast: a complimentary buffet breakfast is served daily from 8 AM to 10 AM.

One seasonal point is worth knowing: the property notes that its restaurant closes over the summer season, and the breakfast selection is reduced during that period. If you are visiting outside the winter months, it is sensible to plan some dinners in central Rovaniemi, about 16 kilometres away, where the city centre has a wider choice of cafes and restaurants.

Days around Rovaniemi often revolve around guided outings, from reindeer farms to snowmobile safaris. You can browse tours and activities around Rovaniemi and build meals around those plans, especially if an evening tour means a late dinner.

Why Stay at Apukka Resort

Apukka Resort suits travellers who want Lapland's quieter side without being far from its headline sights. Here is what makes it a strong choice:

  • A waterside, rural setting: described as a beach hotel with a marina, the resort feels removed from city traffic, which many visitors to the Arctic Circle are looking for.
  • Green Key certification: a recognised eco-label from the Foundation for Environmental Education, useful for sustainability-minded travellers.
  • Finnish sauna on site: a genuine part of Lapland culture, ready after a day in the snow.
  • Breakfast included: a complimentary buffet breakfast daily, so mornings are simple before tours.
  • Easy for drivers: free self parking and a drive of around 15 minutes to SantaPark.
  • Close to Santa Claus Village: about 9.3 kilometres away, an easy trip for families.
  • Connected: free WiFi to keep in touch and check aurora forecasts.

It is less suited to guests who need a lift, an extra bed, or a staffed reception through the night, so weigh those points against your plans. If you are still comparing, you can compare other hotels in Rovaniemi on Traveloka, from city-centre properties to igloo-style resorts.

Tips for Booking Apukka Resort on Traveloka

  1. Plan your arrival time. Check-in starts at 4:00 PM and runs until 10:30 PM; check-out is by 12:00 PM. The front desk is open daily from 8:00 AM to 10:30 PM, so contact the property ahead if you will arrive later.
  2. Contact the property 48 hours ahead. The resort asks guests to make check-in arrangements at least 48 hours before arrival, and the same notice applies to airport pick-ups.
  3. Bring a card. Apukka Resort accepts credit cards and does not accept cash; photo ID and a card or deposit may be requested at check-in for incidentals.
  4. Book the right occupancy. No rollaway or extra beds are available, so choose a room that already fits your group.
  5. Leave pets at home. Pets are not allowed at the property.
  6. Check seasonal dining. The restaurant closes over summer with a reduced breakfast selection, so summer visitors may want to plan dinners in town.
  7. Book early for winter. Lapland's aurora and Christmas seasons are popular, so securing your dates early gives more room choice.

Traveloka shows the latest room availability, policies and payment options for Apukka Resort in one place, so you can review the details before confirming. When the stay is set, you can carry on planning the rest of your journey from the Traveloka homepage.

Stayed in the igloo glass cabins, very atmospheric, beautiful surroundings. The fire log cabins around the property and hiking trails are excellent. Sled provided was a lot of fun. Overall staff very friendly, reception and breakfast excellent. However, most amenities ( sauna) are not included, which is disappointing considering how expensive the Aurora cabins are. Lapland activities booked through the resort are almost 2-3 times the price compared to independent providers. Unless you are looking for convenince you will be better off booking external providers.

Cabins had a nice layout with good features. We were able to see Northern lights from our bed. Two nights they were a bit to our side, so 180 view limited our view a bit. Walked to lakeside and sat around the covered fire. Dinner was excellent as was breakfast buffet. Shuttle was relatively convenient except for late afternoon and early morning to train station which required 50 euro taxi. Also, pathways to room would have been safer with path lighting (fell one night).

A fantastic resort located right on the shores of a large lake, offering plenty of activities—including both traditional and portable saunas—and a well-equipped adventure center. The cabins are beautiful, modern, and extremely comfortable, featuring large windows perfect for viewing the aurora borealis. The resort also provides a convenient (paid) shuttle service to Santa’s Village. The staff are exceptionally helpful and welcoming. The only downside is the hot water system: you get about 20 minutes of hot water at a time, and it can take up to two hours for the tank to fully refill.

Saw the northern lights from bed. Had only booked one nights as reviews were saying best to for staying in the Igloo but I'd stay longer, Igloos are spacious and u can control the heating.
