Hôtel Bleu de Mer

The location is fantastic, walking distance to all main sites. It’s a boutique hotel with incredible potential. I never right reviews but I felt like a review was warranted. The price of the room was great value BUT, and while I loved visiting Bordeaux everything else left me counting down days to check out. We were given a room that had a leak in the bathroom sink and despite notifying the reception, nothing was done to repair. Everytime you brush your teeth or wash your hands water was on the floor. The sheets were stained, the toilet seat had yellow stains and no soap to wash your hands…..

Nice small hotel, good location.

This property is a perfect example of you can’t believe everything you see on the internet. After arriving to the property and spending 10 minutes in the room, we booked another hotel in town and left. There is a code to just enter the front door, you’re given this code on a tiny slip of paper after you find a way in. There is one person at the reception “desk” that is just a beaten up table with a couple chairs. The room keys are actual keys that you are instructed to leave in the drawer behind the desk whenever you leave the hotel. The elevator is barely large enough for a person and a suitcase and the stairs are worn and in need of repair. The room is tiny and the beds are the same with barely six inches of clearance between the bottom of the bed and the floor. The bathroom was similarly small with a grimy stall shower. It was like a hostel. I can only assume the photos online were doctored and the property itself has been submitting the reviews. Otherwise it wouldn’t have such high a rating. When we decided to leave, the front desk person told us that there were other rooms and wanted us to look at them instead of leaving so we “didn’t give them a bad review.” He wasn’t concerned about making us comfortable, he just didn’t want the bad review. That wasn’t the way to make us feel like taking a look at another room and honestly, the room wouldn’t have changed the other parts of the “hotel” that were more concerning.

It’s just the best location to stay in Bordeaux Breakfast not really good it’s like self service vending machine on second day we could get some warm milk bread & other cold Tight bedroom & bathroom need restoration

J’ai eu un très sejour dans cet hotel. La proximité de la place de Bourse et de l'arrêt de bus est un vrai atout. Ça le rend facile a trouver. Le secteur est calme même s'il est a deux pas de tout ce qu'il faut visiter a Bordeaux à pied.

Did not like the attitude of the reception staff. I asked a simple question and did not expect the rule book to be thrown at me. However the others were better.

The location is phenomenal. Room was clean, staff was kind.

Check in was late as our flight got in at 11pm. The boy on reception was very polite and check in was hassle free. However when we got to our room there was a horrible smell like sewage. After going to use the toilet and leaving the seat up we realised the smell was coming out of the toilet. I immediately went to complain to the boy at reception, who was friendly but only able to give us some air freshener. I asked for another room but they were fully booked. I asked if i could get compensation and he said he would speak to his mother. This was after midnight and I was travelling with my 7 year old. I complained about the smell again the next morning at check out and asked about the compensation. Another man was at reception, he had been told about the smell by his colleague and said he would make sure they used something to treat the toilet but he said there was nothing he could offer me. He said he could have given us a free breakfast but we had already eaten elsewhere. For any hotel, of any number of stars the smell of the room was unacceptable.

Warm welcome when checking in and during all interactions with staff. Bottle of rose in our room was a nice touch. Wonderful location. Didn’t have breakfast. Damp smell in room, but it’s an older, traditional property. Nice windows with shutters that could be opened allowing fresh air into the room. Would definitely stay again. Very good value.

You get what you pay, but the location is excellent.
