Mercure Hotel Aachen Europaplatz

Hotel was great but the air conditioning wasn’t working. For the two nights we were there we didn’t have it. The room got very stuffy even with the window open. It rained the second night so we couldn’t open it all the way. Otherwise room was very clean and staff were very nice.

The room was located in first (ground) floor. It was very noisy, people chatting in the corridor. Breakfast wasn't meeting standards of a 4-star hotel. Layout of food not Breakfast room was noisy which is not nice if you would like to start relaxed into a new working day.

A review

The stay in general was good, room was clean, the hotel a bit older, but after check-out I was shocked about the price for the breakfast. Hadn‘t realized it during booking/check-in. Until the prize for breakfast (40 €) will not at least be decreased by 50% I will not book again for that place.

We like the location and hotel, but were disappointed that the restaurant was closed on Sunday.

The Mercure Hotel was lovely, the Rooms are immaculate and the Staff faultless. The booking in and booking out was very quick and professional.

Great hotel, stayed for 1 night on way down to Budapest. Only downside was a blood stain on the pillow !

This hotel is ok for a few days in Aachen. Nice garden and swimming pool.

The hotel is nice, very clean and the breakfast is fantastic. But the real star of this hotel is the staff. Wonderfully helpful and friendly and they were so so kind to our daughter. Special shout out to Simone, she went above and beyond to make our daughter’s stay happy. We are so grateful, THANK YOU!!!

I have been staying at this hotel for many years and get the feeling it’s looking tired now, and needs a makeover. The bed was very hard and not very comfortable. Biggest issue was the service - tried using the phone to ask reception to book a taxi, phone wasn’t working. Should the cleaning team not check that everything is working in the room? I told the reception staff about the phone but they told me I had to scan a qr code and fill out a request for it to be repaired on some website. I did this, and received an email later that day saying “solved” but with a message saying actually it was not fixed because there were other more urgent issues to be fixed that day. The email mentioned I could ask for a wireless phone if needed but why not just put the wireless phone in the room as a solution? Why make me have to do yet another step to get a resolution to what ultimately was a small and meaningless issue but handled very badly by the hotel. Left a very bad feeling about this hotel and i probably won’t stay here again. Time for a change!

Wonderful hotel. Breakfast was great. Staff were kind and helpful. A little further from Aachen centrum than we had thought.
